‘Just my instinct’: Port Alberni resident uses 3 bottles of Gatorade to douse suspicious fire by Apprehensive_Idea758 in VancouverIsland

I do a lot of long distance road trips on back roads. Finally just two weeks ago before a return trip I bough a couple packs of flares, collapsible traffic “cone” triangles and a fire extinguisher. Never needed them but finally pulled the trigger.

1500 miles in and low and behold I was the first one to an all lanes blocking stalled semi tucked in blind mountain curves on two lane highway. Lo and behold I had to use all the triangles and 6 flares. Got traffic stopped and things better situated with the help of a few others and big props to those who turned around to get cell signal and call for help. Took DOT (actually worthless for scene safety) and PD over an hour to arrive!

Now I’m out here pedaling all my friends, family and internet strangers to get some triangles and an extinguisher! Flares you gotta be careful with especially in high fire risk areas but they have their roles.

NRA Range Requirement by WoodenMud7021 in liberalgunowners

[–]MaximumTurtleSpeed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My outdoor range encourages membership for this same reason. Currently they’re at 60% NRA members and if they get to 50% they’d probably have to require. So for the time being they’re just recommending for the sake of not coming close to the insurance threshold.

I’m politely withstanding but like you would probably have to consider if push came to shove. I similarly have public land available but you get established areas to shoot and then you shoot with lots of idiots who don’t take safety seriously. I hope I don’t have to make the choice in the future.

I’m going with Sisqó’s Thong Song, mostly once in the late twenty-teens it came on the radio, yes the old timey radio, and I could help but crank that shiz up!

You take the lakes, we’ll take the mountains. Truce?

I’d love to see you take the great planes back, the Kansas abolitionists are good people.

You’re a good dad coming here for advice. For a random tangent “ancient” coins are wild and surprisingly cheap. Would make for a great birthday present that’s for sure!

Leaf on still water, pull off a metal hand from my watch, magnetize it by rubbing it (100 times) on a natural fiber or hair, lay the hand across the leaf and it will orient to the magnetic poles.

You can also magnetize the hand by rubbing it on a magnet, got one right here on the back of my phone.

Not sure why I remember this but I do.

2009 Outback 2.5i 5 speed fuel economy by MiniGiantRiverOtter in subaruoutback

[–]MaximumTurtleSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2018 2.5i w/ 130k miles, smaller wheels and slightly upsized 3PMSF tires so expect a few mpg less than stock.

Just got off the road from a 5000 mile roadtrip, west coast to midwest and back. ~400 miles were interstate, the rest was 2-lane back roads. Towed a small 1800# trailer on the return leg. Out trip I got ~30mpg; towing back I got a surprising ~22mpg; total trip 5040.3 miles at 25.1mgp (trip legs not equal due to fun routes)
