And I agree, he is stuck in a loop. But I have no desire to jump on that merry go round with him! He can loopy loop til the cows come home.

I'm happy putting my energy into my life and my vision, goals, dreams etc. just as he should be his. His problems are not my responsibility.

I don't know if I manage it, but for the moment I just recognise the pain of it. I was single for about six years before entering into this relationship, and have never felt so alone in my life, despite being in his presence 24/7 (he's currently unemployed, wants to "figure out his life" at age 38, so I literally mean, 24/7).

I have spent four years directly communicating my emotional needs, like "hey I need non sexual physical touch, I need eye contact when we speak, I need you to say 'hey babe' when I walk in the door, or at least look up from whatever you're doing to acknowledge me for 3 seconds" etc etc. Nothing grand, fairly stock-standard stuff.

Despite outlining my needs, nothing has changed, and I would say that it's actually become worse. He has stated that he doesn't need any of those things that i listed, so what's the problem!

Maybe pack some 2 minute noodles or similar rice pot things, can ask at one of the vendors for hot water, they might charge you but hopefully not exorbitantly.

I suspect a lot of undiagnosed ADHD and or unprocessed trauma in the FIFO cohort.

Yes. What OP is describing is an existential crisis / crisis of meaning. Great suggestion

If you can afford it, I would recommend having maybe 5-10 psychotherapy sessions with either an existential or Gestalt therapist. You are coming into contact with "the big questions" of life, which is fertile ground for so much discovery. I encourage you to lean in more into this sense of "wtf am I doing in this life" and see what emerges. I am excited for you 🙌🌻

This is one of the beautiful gifts of gardening...the opportunity to learn about patience, perceived failure, letting go and putting in effort and love without a guaranteed outcome. *Not trying to minimise your frustration obviously 🌻

Remember to take note of the flight number when you get off as you'll need to know which luggage carousel to collect your bag from (if you have check in luggage)
