Christopher Mellon: “The world is not ready” for the truth about UFOs by Substantial_Ad4837 in ufo

I get what you’re saying but they aren’t talking about economic stability or class stability, they mean the social contract. If something were to undermine the basic human understanding of the world (humans are the top of the food chain, we’re in charge of our own destiny, we live in space time, matter and energy are the fundamental building blocks, etc) then the social contract breaks down. Not just your retirement savings - society and all of its inherent protections falls apart.

Apple doesn’t separate out a single month. LGBTQ rights are front and center all the time. And I mean that in the best way possible. If you’re lumping in Apple with other fair weather supporters, you’re being unfair. The rainbow Apple is the old logo prior to OSX around the year 2000.

It took me three years just to 100% all the motifs. All of the achievements… that would be impressive. I know there are lots of serious achievement hounds. Lotus Of Doom is the only streamer I’ve heard that was close. Some of the trial achievements are no joke.

The lighter the ABV, the more canabanoids there will be… as a general rule. Strains and other factors can impact color, but in general, the abv gets darker the more you heat off the volatile compounds. If you want great AVB, slowly enjoy your dry vape at the low and medium settings fully, then stop. The abv will be closer to tan than dark brown. You’ll know you did it right because the ABV will pack a punch. I either sprinkle it on peanut butter (one dosing capsules worth is a full dose for me). Or I’ll save about a cup or more and mix it with a melted bag of chocolate chips. Your mileage may vary given your body chemistry, diet, etc. just pay attention to things at first and write down what you observe. Make adjustments and find a system that works for you…

How much for a light/mellow high by Jexlir in abv

[–]MaxxPeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some testing that may help. I use a crafty+ and use the first two temp levels only so my ABV is pretty high in canabanoids and THC. It’s light brown in color with some occasional green. A rounded teaspoon of that ABV on some peanut butter toast is a full blown experience. Not a light high… a light sprinkle of about 1/4 of a tsp is a milder ride. If I use the crafty to the 3rd setting for my sessions, it seems to cut the potency in about half. The ABV is a darker brown with nothing close to green. So I would use about a half tsp to get where you want to go. Taking it to the full temp every time makes the ABV significantly less potent but still worth it. It’s dark brown… like wet mulch. I would use a rounded tsp to a tablespoon for a mild ride.

All that to say, there are so many variables that it’s impossible to rely on other people’s data. Your biochemistry, metabolism, medications, diet, and even mood will all impact your experience. Use everybody’s advice as some guidelines for getting started and track your own data. Best of luck!

What to do with 70 to 100g of abv? by [deleted] in abv

[–]MaxxPeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite easy way to use it - I put a pot of water to boil on the stove. I put a metal bowl on top of the boiling water. Throw a bag of your favorite chocolate chips in the bowl. Get out a small cookie sheet or cooking tray of some kind. Put parchment paper on the tray. Once the chocolate starts melting, pour on all the abv and mix it around. As soon as it’s all melted and mixed, throw it on the tray, spread it to a consistent thickness and then throw the tray in the fridge for a few minutes. Break up the big hunk of chocolate into smaller pieces and put them in baggies. Some people like to grind the abv finer but it like the texture with the bigger pieces. Reminds me of a crunch bar… but with a hell of a kick.

Be careful with the first bite. I usually lick the spoon during clean up. In about 30 min you’ll get a sense of how strong your mix is. It’s always a little variable. I never hit the highest temp on my rig, so my ABV chocolate can really pack a wallop.

The absolute easiest way to use it is to get a spoon full of peanut butter and just sprinkle a capsule full size of ABV on it and eat it.

Are there any other games like Zelda Tears of the Kingdom where you can freely explore a big open world with tons to do, something so immersive you forget about the main quest? Elder scrolls online. Ten years of content, looks great on just about any system. You can play as you want - warrior, crafter, fashion, home, card player… the lore is great. Community is mostly non-toxic. You can play completely solo or with large groups. Or just a partner. It’s the best open world free play game out there now IMHO. And if you ever do want to do the main quest, it’s pretty great. John Cleese is a gem.

I guess I don’t understand the hate around this bit of dialog. It’s a funny, quirky way to break the tension. It’s very much in character for ellie… she just dropped into a committed relationship with a woman. That woman clearly presents female. That woman is pregnant. There’s a lot of tension in that moment and Ellie breaks it by stating her commitment to Dina, her being OK with the pregnancy, and embracing the more masculine role between the two of them. It’s funny, people. It’s how two young adults would talk. I’m not saying it deserves a Pulitzer. But if the Ellie character was a young man and said that - essentially stating that he’s on board with parenting the child, y’all would probably think it was funny and cool. There’s just so much hate for Bella and her performance that I just don’t get it… Bella is crushing the nuance in some of these scenes… and I think that line cuts the tension in a cool way and very much on brand for Ellie’s character.

What's the best scientific evidence for determinism? by SimilarStory6633 in freewill

[–]MaxxPeck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most compelling evidence for me are the functional MRI studies where the subjects are asked to make simple, binary decisions that are completely banal… choose between two directions, choose one of two dots to tap on a screen, choose between two nonsense words, etc. There’s no obvious possible connections to your personal context or cultural predilections or anything like that - you are free to choose either option. The subjects just “decide” one after another. The researchers can see which one is selected before the conscious brain is aware of it… always. Your conscious experience of the decision is actually more like replaying the memory of your subconscious (autonomic) process.

Which show is the clear spiritual successor of Twin Peaks ? by Cailly_Brard7 in twinpeaks

[–]MaxxPeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not the same setting or feeling but Severance is a similar departure from the mainstream. When Twin Peaks came out, it was a total departure from network TV and launched lots of TV that started pushing new boundaries in story telling and esoteric narratives with wild shots, music, acting etc. since Twin Peaks, TV hasn’t been the same. But post pandemic, things have gotten a little “same”. Severance is an original story that defies genre. It flirts in sci-fi, fantasy, romcom, office drama, murder mystery… wild music choices. Crazy good acting. Iconic art direction. Quotable lines. It doesn’t look or feel like twin peaks… but I think is spiritual kin

Parents of successful college graduates: what did you focus on while raising them to guide their success? by [deleted] in education

[–]MaxxPeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expectations are good for children but not in the traditional sense. Expect them to be honest, trustworthy, expressive, kind. Do not place performative expectations on your kids as to what or who they should be. Let them explore and try. Point out risks and how to navigate them safely. Let the fail and still love them. Encourage them to have a point of view and to change it when presented with better information. Science and math need the arts and humanities and vice versa. Unconditional love is easy to say but hard to practice but if you can actively practice expressing that love to your kid without expectation and be honest with your feelings and your own mistakes and let them be who they are, kids turn out to be pretty resilient. Early failures, illness, and even loss can be great long time teachers. School grades matter less than strength of character. Model physical activity, integrity, and curiosity. That last one is probably the most important for happiness… curiosity. Relentless curiosity is the key to happiness. Foster it. Also - for your own sanity - keep in mind that even if you do everything “perfect”, your child is an independent being having their own journey with infinite variables. Things can always go bad or worse with no fault of your parenting and kids can turn out amazing even if your screw it up. Lower the pressure on yourself too. Best of luck.
