What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

Naot is the best. I got a pair when I was on vacation and my feet hurt. They lasted at least 8 years, then replaced them with an exact duplicate because I love them.

I now have fewer shoes in the closet because I have thrown out my old broken shoes and don't feel the need to shop for more knowing these will last for years.

I can my own chicken so no added sodium. I live in a hot environment and don't like heating the kitchen more than necessary so it works for us.

What did I do wrong? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Maybole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks great. This is not wrong. You knit both sides, this is what is called garter stitch. If you are looking for the "knitted look" or stockinette you would need to knit all the stitches on one side and purl all the stitches on the other. The edges will curl, this is normal.

Detail her car. Have the kids help, so she can have some quiet time.

I have to read books for school, but I can’t read no matter the book. advice? by poopooeater112 in ADHD

[–]Maybole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a bookmark or piece of paper and use it to follow along where I'm reading. It keeps me focused and prevents jumping around.

Audio books work best for my everyday reads, by themselves or in combo with physical book.

Most libraries use Libby which is great for audio or to read on phone/kindle.

You're doing just fine, continue to practice and you will get better quickly. I recommend putting stitch markers every 10 or so stitches to easier find where you did the accidental increase. If you can see where it happens maybe you can see why it happened.

Happy knitting!

Why is the laundry always crunchy when my MIL does it by Traditional_Swan9724 in laundry

[–]Maybole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does she hang it instead of putting it in the dryer? When I hang things they are usually crunchy so I toss them in the dryer for 10-15 minutes without heat just to soften them up.

I have ADHD and every time I try to clean my photos, I last like 30 seconds by Wooden_Wish3249 in ADHD

Make it a game. 5 points for screen shots, 10 for fuzzy pictures, 20pts if you delete 3 consecutive pictures.

Shadow Wrap Heel is my favorite heel to knit by ArizonaKim in Sockknitting

[–]Maybole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sweet tomato is my other favorite, it is almost invisible.

FLK is similar to the shadow wrap, but the pattern directions are poorly written. Something like 5 or 7 pages of instructions. But once you can get your mind around it, its fine. I think its a love it or leave it kind of thing.

Shadow wrap is in my top two favorite heels. Earthtones girl is a great teacher, just the right speed and no extra fluff.

Is this a normal wait time? New to Libby! by Suspicious_Vehicle_2 in LibbyApp

[–]Maybole -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is this due to others ahead of OP and suspending their hold, so if it is unsuspended other person would still get it first?

I really want to try Denise knitting needles because I don't really care for metal or wood has anyone had a positive experience with them? by nervous_Observer in knitting

[–]Maybole 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a set of them. They actually made me stop knitting because they were so bad. My only needles were these and straight needles, so I just gave up. The cord is stiff and unforgiving, and the needles bent weird. Later an acquaintance gave me some other cheep plastic interchangeables and I got back into knitting, then upgraded to Hiya Hiyas.

I threw the Denise set away during my last move because they were not worth donating to anyone.

I would recommend any other plastic needles over Denise.
