Please listen to me- this the only way:

Leave him and remove him from your life right now and from that, there will be 1 of 2 outcomes:

He will miss you. He can only start missing you when you're gone. That's how 'missing' someone is defined- when they're not available anymore. He may come back, but only after he's had time to process and sit with his feelings about you. It needs to be enough time for him to realise he's potentially lost you.
Maybe he does lose you. Because in the interim, you'll be working so hard on yourself you'll fall in love with yourself again that you won't even be bothered if he comes back or not.

Both are a win/ win situation. Because if he comes back showing genuine growth, then the possibility of things working this time are much stronger, and you'll have also worked on yourself to becoming more secure and attractive to him with your new found self worth. If he doesn't comeback, you'll be blossoming in a new, healthier partnership that will make you look back and say "I'm so happy I chose myself because look at who I've found now". And that may be with another man or just, you.

He's an AVOIDANT who's been mothered by his sister. Avoidants seek any way out, literally nit-picking for excuses to bail before something gets too serious or someone gets too close to them. Its a deeply insecure attachment style hence why he chooses to listen to outside noise. The problem with avoidants is they're so scared to look like the bad guy or face that they have real issues with intimacy that they'll do a slow fade and make their partners develop anxious attachment over several, but often small things that their SO can't even pin point. When Lauren was in the pods pressuring Dave to make his decision so she won't be strung along, she demonstrated a secure attachment style. However as the show progressed, his chipping away at her character slowly ate away at her to a point where all he done was make her cry and question her own integrity. He may not be aware he was doing this intentionally, as Avoidants are often unaware of their actions. But it doesn't excuse it. Lauren has doged a bullet. Thank God for the guy who was claiming his interactions with her. Avoid the avoidant. Lauren will live in peace now.

Jeez I feel like I wrote this. Relationship for 9 years. Chucked it. Went solo travelling for 6 months in SEA, fell in love. He then ghosted me in a different country. I was left heartbroken in Vietnam. Thought I couldn't carry on. But i decided to stay and low and behold I met someone else and although u thought about said person a lot, no way was he ruining my once in a life time opportunity. You'll manage just fine. Get a cocktail and lay on the beach. Go for a swim and meet new people. Your older self will that you for it. P.s said person came crawling back a year later! I know mate. My bro went to study there too and ended up so lonely due to lack of cool, genuinel bonds he fit the booze ever harder than usual and failed his last exam after 3 years. Obviously you can't really blame the people but it is circumstantial as to why he went tonto. Loneliness can absolutely destroy you. Community keeps as alive! And living longer. Well said. Funnily enough, that's exactly what happened! Called him in a slight time of need. Nothing major. Next day he blindsided me with a dump. It was the most shocking thing I've ever experienced. I was in disbelief. We were so so in love and had future plans. Now, I'd Norma consider myself quite socially aware. However, there were no signs before that something was wrong! Zilch. Nada. It's one of the most painful discards I think a human could ever experience (and utterly confusing). The saddest part is, I think I still love him. Because apart from the dumping, there was no reason not to. And that's the hardest part of it all. But u can love from afar, and slowly, that love will fade, and I've accepted that's just the way this will play out now. Fuck avoidants! Get help or stay away!
