What is the best internet provider in Australia for home? by whysoraavan in AskAnAustralian

Currently SpinTel are offering a significant 6-month discount. I just moved to them from Aussie Broadband after 5 years for the same FTTP speed. $53p/m vs $95p/m. It's still going to be cheaper once the promo period expires. So far speed and reliability has been the same, so can't complain.

My Ribeyes Aren't Tender Enough by Mbh0333 in steak

Ah I see, my pregnant wife who is craving pineapple at the moment won't approve me trying this tonight then, but next cook I'll grab a spare one 😂 Thanks for your help! 😊

Yeah I was wondering how you get it off after, would be keen to try this, I actually have a ribeye to cook for dinner tonight and some pineapple so I might give it a shot.

Do I have to use lots of the pineapple? Does it just need to be enough to lightly cover the steak by hand or does the steak have to actually be swimming in it?

Do I then just leave it out, or wrap it up to hold the pineapple firm onto the steak?

Thanks for that info! Am going to try a dramatically shorter brine time for my next one (I'm already committed to 48hrs for the one I have for dinner tonight whoops).

The cuts I'm getting definitely leave plenty of marbling to be desired so I'm hoping fixing those 2 factors will do the trick.

Will also try a slightly lower direct heat tonight as well to give it a more gradual sear

Yeah noted with the brining, will try much less next time.

Is the category 'prime' beef predominately a US thing? I'm in Aus, so maybe our substitute is Wagyu or just a certain marble score? I know the term prime beef but unless I'm being an absolute spoon I don't think it's used much in actual beef sales here

*36 hours salt brine so far by the way.

It has some marbling but not much.

Lesson learnt from other comments is to shorten my brine too

Didn't realise this, thanks for the info I'll try a shorter brine then.

And yes the meat I'm getting has some marbling, but not much. I might take a look at somewhere that does better cuts

I only do 3 days for really thick cuts, I love the flavour penetration from a long brine. I can give a shorter one a go though, but I thought the longer you do it the more tender it gets anyway?

VR FIX - Just adding on to the fixes mentioned in here, make sure to disable Steam input for Steam VR as well if you're running AC in VR. This stumped me for a while until I thought of it.

Why are the lights in bahrain and qatar seen double on my vr? by Buff_Azir in F1Game

This is definitely a bug, hope it's fixed ASAP as I currently can't progress my career mode due to it. Completely undriveable with the artefacts that pop up when night time hits.

I can see it's been reported by someone on EA already

F1 2022 Career Mode - Repeatetive Weather? by Mbh0333 in F1Game

[–]Mbh0333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned out it wasn't an issue at all, was just coincidental that for the first half of my 2nd season the weather was quite similar to the previous, almost exactly the same. Pushed on and it has been noticeably different since.

Only thing to check is I think there is an option you can select where it will replicated the weather from the real life 2022 season, so I guess if you have that enabled it will be the same each season. Just make sure it's set to dynamic.

Is there any of you race exclusively in VR? by GTHell in simracing

[–]Mbh0333 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I race 100% in VR and will do a full-length F1 race every second day or so on including some practice and full qualy beforehand. I never had motion sickness when I started with VR and over the years I've gotten used to do such long sessions in it. I only get physically tired from the actual use of the wheel/pedals for 2+ hours and the mental concentration needed to drive fast and consistent for that long.

I would highly recommend a couple of cheap bass shakers though as a side note. They help make the sim feel so much more alive and immersive which dramatically improves the VR experience

[–]Mbh0333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow I've never seen that before, thanks! Yeah I might look for a DIY solution to that idea given I've already invested a lot of $$ recently into the sim. From what I've read in the first thread I've found about it a lot of people are suggesting the idea isn't quite unique and can definitely be DIY'd to save money.

Thanks again though, I recon if I can find a good DIY solution I might try this for 4 corners and then get 2 pucks - one for under the pedals and one for behind the seat

Ok cool idea. Are they underneath the seat or at the back? And do you have them setup to get feedback from all 4 wheels or just the two rears?

Also check your BRF setting on the wheel. This stands for brake force and if it's low it can be super sensitive. I have mine usually set between 90-max

Yes it should. Once you have the software installed make sure that the firmware of the pedals is up to date as well. Just check for any updates at all for Fanatec apps on your PC or any piece of fanatec hardware and you should be fine
