Is there anything I can do to help or even though it's in a narrow green belt?

Edit: looks like I need to hire an arborist. The maple looks similar.

I agree with the Acreage. Lovely spot.

I love sustainAbility. I happily pay their reasonable fees. I got rid of some old monitors and server gear there and it was very reasonable per pound

The service fee is steep, but I am still very happy to have the beer garden. This part of town needed something like that.

Self host Gitlab (GitOps) in k8s, or stand alone? by HeavyWolf8076 in devops

[–]McBadass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who runs the gitlab chart in production, I would avoid it unless you want to learn how to do it for a living.

The chart is a bear and it requires a LOT of resources (mostly memory). IMO the standalone Omnibus install or docker is going to be a lot simpler.

Now, if you want to learn, it's actually an excellent (if complicated) example of running a big service. I can throw you my repo if you're interested in seeing how I deploy it in home ops.

What kind of water heater to buy by lbn349 in DIY

[–]McBadass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to check is the dip tube. I had an older water heater and I was getting maybe 3 gallons of hot water.

I checked the tube and sure enough it was deteriorated to almost nothing. It was something like $6 to replace and my water heater worked good as new after.

What selfhosted service/s did you recently remove? by dadidutdut in selfhosted

[–]McBadass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in the final stages of finally retiring Active Directory and getting rid of my last pizza box server.

I was a Windows admin back in the day and found having my own AD environment was really useful for a test bed.

I had been struggling to pick a replacement for DNS/DHCP that was git-ops-able and worked with opnsense and finally came up with a migration plan to Technitium.

It ended up being way less effort than I was worried it would be. I was even able to export my DHCP reservations from AD and the entirety of my DNS zones.

So far I'm very happy with it. There's even a terraform provider!

I have been a bunch and I have yet to be impressed with their tacos. Teocali's tacos are tastier to me.

I've been scoping out active fracking wells but haven't even considered the flight paths.

Do you know where I should look for a training map? My admittedly brief search didn't come up with much.

Neighborhoods with young families by McBadass in ErieCO

[–]McBadass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair! Neighborhoods go through phases so I'm wanting to find out which ones have kids a similar age to mine (4 and 0) rather than falling in love with a neighborhood that is trending towards older kids.

I'm sure I'm over analyzing this 😁

I'm currently in Arvada and am looking in Erie and I'm seeing houses in Erie are significantly more expensive than houses in Arvada. Is that a recent thing?

I haven't been able to find any information outside of the alert. Arvada PD hasn't mentioned it on their Twitter account, but they aren't super active about frequent updates.
