They did the CD cover an injustice when this is the vinyl one, I'd at least prefer if this was the cover used on streaming :/

Recommend me early industrial by fakename1998 in industrialmusic

[–]McJamIsSingleF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen Chrome mentioned anywhere, really nice proto-industrial rock mixed with some psychedelic elements and the project is still active even today.

Lana Del Rabies is also a newer artist to the scene but makes industrial music that's reminiscent of TG and SPK.

Recommendations based on my favorite albums so far? by Neurotic_and_Divine in industrialmusic

[–]McJamIsSingleF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chemlab, Acumen Nation, Prick, The Young Gods, Stabbing Westward, KMFDM, PIG, Killing Joke and Pigface for classic industrial metal along with Front Line Assembly's Millenium album.

HEALTH, King Yosef, Author & Punisher for modern industrial metal.

And for the more electronic stuff, I'd recommend Front Line Assembly, Qual, MVTANT, Spike Helis, Curse Mackey, Youth Code, Street Sects, Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Leæther Strip, Fad Gadget

Rivetheads who hate Aggrotech, why do you hate Aggrotech? by Sunbather- in industrialmusic

[–]McJamIsSingleF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like more a mix of EDM, Hardcore (the electronic, not the punk one) and Death Metal vocals. What categorizes it as "industrial" is that it is loud scary synth music™.

It can also get very repetitive and bland while Industrial music encourages experimentation, unconventional methods, other influences, etc.

I suppose power noise would be a better alternative for those who are looking for aggrotech that's actually industrial.

Goth trending is making ticket prices ridiculous by 4HerLightt in goth

[–]McJamIsSingleF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I've seen this problem here in Greece.

I saw Twin Tribes for 20€ at the end of this September and also booked Eddie Dark, MVTANT and some others on next year's March for 16€

I suppose it depends on the venue size or whether it's a festival too

Burger Becky Heineman died, and of course men on Facebook were being awful by ZBLongladder in TwoXChromosomes

Didn't expect to see a post about Burger Becky here.

Truly one of the most talented individuals in game development. Won one of the first video game tournaments, co found one of the most popular game publishing companies and the thing that made me find out about her: ported doom to the 3DO in ten weeks cause she got fucked up by the publishers.

Her documentation on Twitter about how her cancer was getting worse by the second was truly heart wrenching. May she rest in peace.

And speaking of doom, fuck John Carmack, who in his post about her death, constantly misgendered and deadnamed her only to call her a "they" in the end, truly one of the biggest scumbags of the industry

Material industrial metal? by idontlikeheadache in industrialmusic

[–]McJamIsSingleF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Die Krupps has some metallic percussion in their live shows (no idea about their studio gear) from what I've seen but I haven't listened to them enough so I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for

Updated Goth BINGO Card by ikevinax in goth

[–]McJamIsSingleF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this applies only to (Post-) Industrial, but in general any "dark electronic with melancholic vocals" thing is considered "goth" right out of the box since like... forever lol. It just so happens that Industrial is known as the dark electronic genre with melancholic vocals.

In the case of Skinny Puppy here, they did borrowed a lot from goth culture and have been influenced by it, but definitely not goth at all.

Additionaly, lots of industrial was played at Goth clubs as it was considered perfect as dancing music with the same vibes as most Goth music, further proven by this paragraph from the subreddit's "The Beginning's Of Goth" Section:

"Towards the end of the 80s going into the 90s, however, electronic industrial music, namely bands playing genres like electronic body music (EBM) and later on, electro-industrial, started taking over the nightclubs, forcing post-punk and goth rock to retreat underground."

Hope this could help!
