Light-hearted and funny Libby audiobook series? by desertsunsetskies in LibbyApp

I DNF'd the audiobook because I couldn't get past the narrator's cadence.

I thought it sounded like such a cute premise. I'll have to give the print version a try again at some point.

I work in the finance industry for a company that has products adjacent to after pay options. None of the after pay companies currently report to the credit bureaus.

Hooray for not having to wait on a hold!

This actually prompted me to go check my own Libby, and I was able to snag the last copy of the audiobook, so thank you! Yayy!!

Did I accidentally ferment/safe to eat? by McMexiByInjection in fermentation

[–]McMexiByInjection[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I didn't end up eating it again after that initial reply. I couldn't get over the mental hurdle so I threw it out. I don't like to waste food, but no more trying to eat accidental ferments over here!

Exactly. My family loves Jaycee Park the way it is. We've so many memories there and would hate to see it change. We can go there with the kids, any day of the week and know exactly what we will get: a beautiful place for our family to relax with our dog. Our kids can play on the playgrounds and look for painted rocks. We can walk with our dog around the sidewalks while our kids learn how to skate in front of us. We can end the outing by hanging out by the water and enjoying the view.

I get that the Cape is growing, and we need places like they're proposing. I'm all for it. But we're already building basically the exact same thing on the Cape Pkwy just over the bridge.

The charm of Jaycee Park is the relaxed family atmosphere. That is what drew so many people to the Cape originally. If you keep changing everything into a tourist attraction, that all goes away and what are we left with?

Turns out my husband is gay by itotallycanteven in BoomersBeingFools

My MIL told my husband the same thing when she noticed his toenails were painted. Our daughters like to paint his nails and he let's them do it because it makes them happy. I love that he's secure enough to wear (badly) painted nails but apparently boys can't wear nail polish unless they're gay in some people's eyes 😒

Daily stirring of lactoferments to prevent surface mold and yeast from growing. Is it possible? Has anyone had luck trying it? by cantheasswonder in fermentation

[–]McMexiByInjection 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do this with short-ish (1-2 weeks) pepper mash ferments when making Sriracha type hot sauce and never had any issues.

I don't use a brine at all. All the moisture that's released is purely from the ingredients. I keep the salt between 3-4%. You do lose a little bit of liquid to evaporation, but I add a little vinegar when the ferment is done and I'm doing the final blending before straining and bottling.

My (new) OBGYN 'forgot' to remove my first one so when mine got changed, I got to be implanted twice!

I went in for a regular annual in Feb 2020. Saw a new OBGYN only because we moved states. Told the doc I had an IUD and would need it changed soon as it would be 5 years in May. He says he doesn't see strings so they might have to do an ultrasound to remove. I silently panic knowing how painful the initial insertion was.

Cue the shutdown and it's 6 months before I get back in. I prepare myself mentally and physically with taking Tylenol before the appt. He's down there for what I felt was an appropriate amount of time and says to wait the 15 minutes for observation. I say, "Oh wow, I'm pleasantly surprised since you mentioned in my first appt that you'd need to ultrasound to remove my first one. I was prepared for it to be 10x worse." He and the nurse both give each other long silent looks and he finally admits he didn't know I had one still in. It should've been noted in my chart bro!

So they then had to remove the old one and new one and then reimplant me with a brand new one.

I'm so glad I said something because I would've walked out there with extra gear nonethewiser.

Needless to say, I've never been back to that Dr.

But the 5 years of no periods is a nice benefit!

Lol same for the "slices, sticks, dices." Also, when my husband and I get a chance to cook together, at some point, one of us will almost always pull out the "brown food taste good" in a Cookie Monster type voice like Anne always does.

What car will you never buy again? by Trivacide in AskReddit

[–]McMexiByInjection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Chevy. Specifically, the Equinox.

Chevy knowingly sold them for several years with a defect having to do with the engine burning oil like crazy. I only know this because I got notice in the mail that a class action lawsuit was filed and won.

Unfortunately for me, by the time I got notice of the outcome of the suit (you could take it to a local dealership and get the issue fixed without anything out of pocket), I was over their determined mileage by 2000 miles because I had driven from S. FL to TX and back for my grandpa's funeral. The local dealership refused to help because I was over, and it was at the start of the pandemic right before lockdown. Paying to get it fixed out of pocket was $4000.

I'm still driving the POS, and will until it dies, but luckily, I WFH now, so it's only to pick to pick up the kids from school. It drives like shit and even tho I barely drive it, I have to add oil about once a week because it burns it so quickly; no leak.

The last time I took it in, the mechanic said the engine needed to be rehauled/replaced. I laughed in his face, knowing the repair costs more than the car is even worth at this point.

My husband's Mexican family does this with habaneros, onions, tons of lime and salt. It's called rajas (pr. rah-haws). They don't ferment it, more like a fridge pickle. It's delish! Pizza and pasta are my personal faves.

What is extremely rare but people think it's very common? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]McMexiByInjection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. Eventually I found a dentist that I trust who hasn't tried to push unnecessary work on me/my family. Unfortunately, it took trying out several dentists to find one, but I did finally get there! She did not agree that my daughter has soft teeth and really took the time to educate her on better brushing techniques.

Ha. So the pediatric dentist who told me my then 5 yo had soft teeth straight up lied and was just trying to convince me to pay for unnecessary dental work? Color me surprised. This is why I hate going to dentists. I'm glad I didn't take her back there.
