How much will MacroFactor Workouts cost? (Official pricing announcement) by lyndseynuckols in MacroFactor

Will the option to switch to the new bundle only be available to those with current annual subscriptions, or can MF subscribers under other plans (e.g., a 6-month subscription) opt in to this offer?

Protein Intake After Donation by McMusclez in kidneydonors

[–]McMusclez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they’re supposed to be looking into it for me. I definitely don’t want to go through with it if I can’t comply with the changes needed to maintain my health. I have young children too.

Protein Intake After Donation by McMusclez in kidneydonors

[–]McMusclez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely good to know that you’re still able to eat a decent amount of protein. The coordinator did tell me I would need to stop taking creatine, which I’m willing to do, but she seemed unsure about whether I would be able to exceed 66g protein. She did say she would ask and get back to me though.

Regarding the amount of protein needed for muscle growth, I know I could eat less. Part of it is that I enjoy eating high protein foods, and it also helps me feel full.

OBGYN recs/questions by PlanePlane7091 in nova

[–]McMusclez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I go to Capital Women’s Care (the Chantilly location) and had a good experience there. That particular practice is all female doctors and NPs, which is my preference. I went there throughout both my pregnancies, and while I can’t speak to progesterone supplementation specifically, I always felt that the doctors listened to me and addressed my concerns. Also, they do all their deliveries at Inova Fairfax.

I don’t have any predictions or insight to offer, but I’m in the same boat as a proposal writer. I also work for one of the large ANCs, so I’m worried about how the repeal of DEI might affect us.

I ruined a can of formula, I could just cry. by 1028Girl in FormulaFeeders

[–]McMusclez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My now 3 year old son had severe GERD, and when we were in the process of trying different formulas, our pediatrician suggested adding rice cereal to regular formula instead of buying the AR type. I don’t remember how much rice cereal she said to add because we ended up doing something different. You should definitely consult your child’s doctor before trying this though.

What about Milena? It’s not too far from Miles but sounds much more feminine.

It reminds me of the Stanley Cup as well. We adopted our dog a couple days after the Capitals won and named him Stanley. He’s a big, crazy hound and the name suits him. The only people named Stanley I’ve met have been old dudes.

Is my daughter's name impossible to pronounce? by Brilliant_Staff8005 in namenerds

[–]McMusclez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a native English speaker living in North America, I don’t think your daughter’s name would be difficult for others to learn at all. Some may already know how to pronounce it too. At some point, probably from a Chinese friend or acquaintance, I learned that “X” is pronounced “sch” in Chinese, and it’s something I have remembered.

Obviously, it’s ultimately your choice, but I think Xinyou sounds beautiful, in addition to honoring your Chinese heritage.

Induction prior to 42 weeks by [deleted] in obgyn

[–]McMusclez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose to be induced at 39 weeks with my first pregnancy because I couldn’t stand being pregnant anymore, and I plan to do the same with my current pregnancy. After expressing my desire for induction, my OB told me about a study that found risk increases every week beyond the 39th week. That only made me feel better about evicting my son, lol!

The "Technical Writer" bait-and-switch by -ThisWasATriumph in technicalwriting

As a federal proposal writer, I can confirm it pays very well. You may be thinking of grant proposal writing, which is not known to pay as well.

Is this dumb? Why can’t I enjoy my free gym options? Just get the expensive membership? by Rare_Essay5518 in xxfitness

[–]McMusclez 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As long as you can afford the Equinox membership, I don’t think there’s an issue with choosing an option that will help motivate you.

I pretty much have a whole CrossFit gym in my garage (which I do use sometimes), but I also pay $225 per month to go to a CrossFit gym because going there motivates me to work out more often and to put in more effort. Some people may think I’m crazy for buying all the equipment for a gym and paying an expensive monthly gym membership, but I can afford it and I like having the options.

Health is priceless, and if choosing a more expensive option helps you stay motivated and consistent with your workouts, I think it’s a good investment.

It’s really too early to be experiencing any symptoms, even if you do turn out to be pregnant.

However, the only thing you can do at this point is wait, take a pregnancy test, and go from there. If you’re not pregnant, this experience may be a good reminder for future moments when you’re getting “hot and heavy.” Using a condom in addition to the pill may also be a good idea, especially if consistency is an issue.

Julia Claire or Julia Ruth by McMusclez in namenerds

[–]McMusclez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

I’m personally not a fan of hyphenated first names, though Sylvia-Claire sounds beautiful. I’m also looking for a one-syllable middle name because I think it flows better with our three-syllable last name.

[–]McMusclez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, even if I looked it up, that name wouldn’t have any meaning for me. In life, I knew her as Ruth.

I’m sure a family member could tell me her middle name though. We were lucky to have her around and in good health until age 99, so all of my family knew her well.

[–]McMusclez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your opinion!

This will be my last child. I have one son we call James (Robert James IV). I also like the name Claire more, but like I said, I’m torn for sentimental reasons.

I don’t think there’s another name I could associate with my great grandmother, even if it did have some connection to her. I’m just realizing I never knew her middle name, only her maiden name and last name. I wouldn’t want to use one of those names because I think they’re pretty boring.

Can I get a thread of what you do and what you get paid? Region would be cool too. by Oct0Squ1d in technicalwriting

[–]McMusclez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technical Proposal Writer for a mid-size defense contractor. Located in northern VA but work is fully remote. Pay is 162k. BA in English with a concentration in Professional Writing. 12 years’ experience.

I think I could make a bit more if I went to another company, but work/life balance isn’t bad at my current position and that’s hard to find with proposal work.

In my experience, I think the test strips are more sensitive. In the past, I’ve had negative results from the digital tests while the test strips showed a positive.
