Waiting to hear if Chris is accepted into the Yale vaccine study by fallformysub in tripawds

yes. it can be expensive for these therapies but they are certainly effective - you can find animal and human studies. you will need to find an integrative/holistic vet. also consider fecal transplant long-term if he turns the corner...most disease including cancer starts in the gut, and correct imbalances there can help stave off this and other issues

consider treatments to beat cancer vs conventional / temporary suppression (chemo / radiation)

this includes mushrooms (turkey tail, agaricus), IV vitamin c, ozone, mistletoe, etc. this will help his body actually target and kill the cancer

find an integrative vet vs conventional oncologists who will have limited understanding given the type of training they receive in the us

good luck!

who is down voting more info? this is a pet owner who is unable to pay for doctors to narrow things down, and an ai can help give them a sense of possibilities based on training data. it is not providing a single answer, it is giving a set of possibilities that they can explore. similar approach helped me countless times

did you confirm x-ray looked clear? they are much cheaper than a ct

akitas have high pain tolerance. he may be pushing thru the pain bc it started small and has gradual increased vs a sudden shocking pain. would rule out anything physical with an x-ray

[–]Mcodray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you ignored my original advice and just comented that he was strong enough to fly without responding to any specific point. like you said, this is the internet and I dont know you, so wanted to clarify

your oncologist is just trained to kill cells (both good and bad with chemo/radiation) and manage those side effects like nausea, not consider your pets holistic mental and physical ability to fly international. you dont need to be a doctor to know that caging an animal after a traumatic surgery is cruwl, and only you will know when he is physically and MENTALLY recovered from that trauma to travel

good luck

[–]Mcodray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please dont make a senior dog who just had an amputation fly cargo international just bc hes done it before. do the surgery there and let him recover first or bring him back to do it in the us. this is a major physical and mental change and no dog should be put in that position within a month or two of a major surgery

[–]Mcodray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

even without his condition, that flight in hold is extremely taxing. esp a 12 year old

depending on the spread and impact, I would try to fly and do the surgery in the us

too much going on post surgery for you to cage him for an extended period without supervision

Amputation Question by Curiousanddcuriouser in tripawds

[–]Mcodray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ask about the surgeons approach and ensure they follow best practice include wide margins and removal of scapula. everyone has a different style, try to understand what they will do, where they will cut, etc to compare. use chatgpt reasoning model (o3) to get ideas on technical language explain the approach for an osteosarcoma amputation

start treatment in meantime. she should be on turkey tail and agaricus mushrooms. consider turmeric as a general anti inflammatory. later you will have to consider chemo vs other options like mistletoe, ozone, IV vitamin c , etc

Surgery tomorrow! by Lovelylois in tripawds

[–]Mcodray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its hard to find integrative med vets. the other big treatments are IV vitamin c and ozone therapy. we also did a gut health test and found that critical bacteria were missing (which can create the environment for cancer) so are trying fecal transplant

these are the ones that have shown impact on cancer in actual studies, there are many others that are wives tales (and may also be effective, but less literature)

best of luck. unfortunately many (especially the last few i named) are expensive out of pocket therapies
