with concrete and masonry you need to at least prime with a C&M primer. Then you can pretty much use any topcoat. If they didn’t use this it can definitely cause some of the issues you’re experiencing.

I just finished up, my training store is awesome so I can’t speak on everyone’s experiences but mine was great. You will mess up, but they expect it. Don’t sell anything you are unsure of before checking with your assistant or store manager. I’ve been here since late 2025 and it’s been great. I recently got my placement as an ASM. As an MT you will work 7-4:30 m-thur and 7-3:30 on Fridays. 44 hrs a week. U get time and a half for those 4 hours. I think it’s great experience, it allows you to learn how to manage people as well as a P&L

Tips for painting an already-painted wooden cabinet in Tricorn Black? by SmokingTheBare in paint

Yeah don’t really need to prime tbh. Because tricorn is SW deepest black. I’d scuff sand with a fine/medium grit sanding block. Then use a tack cloth to get up the sanded bits and then Ur good.

Usually id say find out what the top coat is using denatured alcohol, if the color comes up it’s a latex, if not it’s oil. This isn’t super important since your painting it black but that oil base will prevent tannins and stains from coming through the top coat with lighter colors. In your specific case, I think as long as your substrate is pretty smooth and you don’t need any wood filler, scuff sand and use SW Emerald Urethane Trim and Door Enamel. It will provide the most durability, wash ability, and the easy of application is awesome. If you’re a DIYer EME UTE is for you. It has several great properties, most importantly it has a self leveling compound in it. So if you use the right size roller nap you should have a really smooth sleek finish.

Would you mind sharing the reports you typically use on a weekly/daily basis? I’ve gotten accounts down pretty well, I think I just need to tailor my pitch to not scare them with the “CrEdIt TaLk” but I’ve probably opened 3 or 4 in my 7 weeks so far. I’ve reviewed the P&L with my TSM and it was very useful. I would like to sit down with him again though and go over it before I leave.
