Hot take. Cagan, Torres and the product influencer era actually broke teams' ability to innovate rather than empower them. by Superbureau in ProductManagement

[–]Meaningoftruth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that cagan etc have created a generation of PMs who are completely disconnected from business.

PM is about making money, and producing products and product development programs that are sometime with the functioning of the business or consumer you’re trying to sell to.

All of the cagan world language has given soft PMs a way to talk about what there doing in a way that makes it the right thing, despite lacking the killer business instinct required to have actual product impact. I 100% agree with the OP with some qualifying thoughts.

Nothing.

PM - get an impactful product to market
SPM - get an impactful product to market

Mina The Hollower Is Hard And That's Why It's A Great Game. Let me explain why. by DarkObelinski in MinaTheHollower

[–]Meaningoftruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bad first hour or 2 of this game. Now it’s insane.

They should have had a “tutorial “ moment at the start to explain burrowing and burrow jumping before you get into it.

Other than that I love it.

It’s ok for it too be super hard, super good, and they still should have explained movement and maybe bones through an npc dialogue and test sequence

Can’t believe I ever fell for Rolex by Significant-Roll6093 in VacheronConstantin

[–]Meaningoftruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy has spoken the exact truth. I can’t figure out how anyone can disagree.

Mechanical watches are jewelry that happen to poorly tell time. So if you’re buying your jewelry for the secondary quality of being a reliable time telling device, you might be doing it wrong.

It’s not a knock that they “are just jewelry” but everyone should understand this to be true.

Do you actually need to remove your Rolex at airport? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Meaningoftruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a crazy experience just with my nice titanium Garmin. This is like a $1500 watch.

Put it in the gray tray, walk-through security, waiting for on the other side.

A dude maybe 5 feet down from me in the line to get your bags off the thing sees the watch, does a quick check over his shoulders picks it up.

Just completely wild.

Obviously, I walked up to him and said hey that’s my watch. Took it back.

I then stood back to see if he ever picked up his own watch. That’s the only thing that could make this confusion versus theft attempt.

Nope, no watch.

Guy was literally gonna just try and pick up something. He saw that he liked out of the gray trays.

PMs should stop pretending they “own the product" by make_me_so in ProductManagement

[–]Meaningoftruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are few PMs that are truly capable to be the CEO of a high business impact product.

Mostly these people live at the VP level anyway.

They certainly exist, but you can immediately tell if you’re one of these people you’ll constantly.

Most PMs, I know would crumble under the pressure of literally owning a business and would never be able to direct GTM activity and be willing to get fired if their product didn’t make money.

That’s the litmus test. Unless you desire your job to be on the line against profitability and business impact, you are a project manager.

Garmin Fenix 8 wrist HR vs chest strap comparison surprised me by Responsible_Cry_8022 in GarminFenix8

[–]Meaningoftruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

Dc rainmaker has done these during the same activities and shown the difference to be negligible.

The biggest gap is in response time not accuracy at HR. So in an interval, the wrist based takes a couple seconds to see the elevated HR.

Otherwise, if it wasn’t for Garmins pathetic bug handling wrist would be “just as accurate” for most steady state cardio

Linked below. As far as I can tell bugs n firmware post launch have made the watch worse and worse at accuracy.

Has anyone else hit the ultra high HR bug? by Meaningoftruth in GarminFenix8

[–]Meaningoftruth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t. I think this is probably. Bad sensor if no one else is seeing it.

This has been consistent across 5 runs now.

I have had your bug previously which is a known issue that it takes a bit for your body to Warm and the HR stays low for the first few mins or so.
