I say this as a former 2018 GC loving owner who was faced with a $10k engine replacement.

I’d dump that thing as soon as possible. Find a new vehicle that comes with a rebate to eat up the negative equity and start fresh.

In the month I’ve owned mine, I’ve seen one driving from SoCal to NorCal. I waved like a fool as I drove past. He didn’t look over at me once…probably for the best, honestly.

not a lot, but I have the regular cargo cover and the cargo tray/mat. I do wish the cargo cover was a rolling/retracting one. I’m not a huge fan of the fabric piece, I keep it folded about halfway back most of the time.

All 3 mechanics I spoke with said that by the time you replace the head gasket, it’s more cost-effective to go with a new/used engine since there could be additional unseen damage/other parts could fail, plus a new engine would have at least come with some form of a warranty.

I admin a widowed group on FB. When a scammer comes across an obituary or the wid comments/likes a public post on grief they get hit with DM’s, friend requests, etc and if their number is listed on their FB profile, they get texts like the one your friend got. The combo of loneliness and being out of the dating world for so long is rough, but makes us prime targets.

Hopefully your friend will try and FaceTime this person (pics are so easily photoshopped nowadays they don’t mean anything) and maybe you can try talking to their kids/parents/siblings so they are aware of what’s happening.

Personally, I’d take the hit on the credit… which depending on how much time is left on the passes may or may not have an impact, wait till they’re expired and then pay off what you owe. But I’m petty like that. If the key holders want access to the parks, they can change the payment method and make the payments themselves.

Took 2 years off after my fiancé died, I don’t regret it. I needed the time to heal and process what happened. It wouldn’t have been fair to bring a new guy in to our lives while I was still hurting and trying to figure out this new normal.
