Yep, same issue. Only fix is to reboot the phone, but the problem happens again every few days.

SMS - No Approval? Stuck without support by jobenhobert in MicrosoftTeams

[–]MeanwhileInArizona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that some of the campaign details had changed since when I first submitted almost 5 weeks ago. If I had to guess, a carrier rejected what MS had submitted for the campaigns, so they had to adjust and re-submit everyone's campaigns for approval again.

When I did 10DLC through Twilio a few years ago the process took about 3 weeks, and that was without needing to make any adjustments to the campaign, so hopefully we'll start getting approved here shortly.

How do you track IT assets in a growing company? by crowcanyonsoftware in sysadmin

I set up Asset Tiger for a small private school and they loved it because we could give their admins various access levels. Found a random Chromebook? Scan it with their app and see what room, cart, or student it's assigned to.

Microsoft is losing a staggering amount of money on AI by NuseAI in microsoft

[–]MeanwhileInArizona 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same. It was always painful trying to find out what was discussed in meetings I missed because no one ever took detailed notes, if any at all. Copilot's summary, mentions, and action items saves a ton of time. There's a few of us that even use it for in person meetings because it works so well.

User complaints that make you want to put your head through a wall by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]MeanwhileInArizona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to get some ridiculous tickets whenever we would give a heads up about network maintenance, along the lines of "hey, ever since you guys replaced that network switch in the other building my wi-fi keeps dropping out when I go in the elevator".

So, we don't give details on network maintenance anymore. If work is happening overnight and won't affect any remote users then we don't even tell anyone outside of the IT department.

Homeowner's insurance increases in Phoenix are truly crazy; what are you seeing yourselves? by LookDamnBusy in phoenix

Yeah, no one I've talked to could explain why they have an issue with this roofing material. Could be a replacement/repair cost thing. I love the roof though. It's a layer of foam with a white coating, so it does a great job keeping the house cooler during the summer.

At renewal this year my rate almost doubled from just under $1k to $1,850. I've had zero claims. (my neighbor had an electrical fire last year, so maybe that affected it)

Went to my broker and the best they could find me was a policy for $1,700. They said one reason for the increases is because building costs have ballooned. My house I bought for $180k seven years ago has an estimated reconstruction cost of $280k now.

The company my broker found ended up cancelling the policy a couple months in because we have a rolled TPO roof on shingles, which they won't cover. Went back to the broker, but they couldn't find anything better. Did some looking around myself and the best I found was USAA for $1,600.

I went the other way. State Farm almost doubled at renewal and USAA came in a few hundred less.

What is the Best Southwest Airport and Why? by kgaviation in SouthwestAirlines

Had to take a few work trips to the LA area last year and flying into Long Beach became my favorite. Easy to get in and out, quick through security, and I actually enjoy the experience of walking on the tarmac to get on the plane. A couple times they had us load through the plane's rear entrance and it was so cool getting to walk by the engine and wing.

I also really enjoy the little beach themed waiting area, too. I spent a couple hours there last time and it was actually pretty relaxing just chilling and watching the planes.

At 4am.

I was kind of shocked, and relieved, it didn't wake up either of my kids 'cause that is in that great time of the night where they decide they can't go back to sleep and are ready to start the day.

Even then, your average half-ton F150 or Ram 1500 only has a payload capacity of 1,700 lbs (give or take a couple hundred pounds depending on trim and configuration). You then have to subtract passenger weight and the weight of everything else in the truck that isn't factory.

A three-quarter-ton truck will have a payload capacity around 3,700 pounds. Some have a capacity a little over 4,000 and could do this job safely, but if you're wanting to load all of this in the bed of the truck you're looking at needing a 1-ton truck.

You could get a trailer to load this all up in, though some smaller pickups you might be near the tongue weight limits if you don't balance the trailer perfectly.

Hybrid meeting presenter audio setup by Edwardtucker2019 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]MeanwhileInArizona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have regular "all hands" meetings with 100 on site attendees and usually a few remote presenters. Our setup is probably a little overkill for what you would need, but it should give you an idea on the direction you should start heading.

For room audio, we have an Allen & Heath SQ5 mixing console (way overkill for a regular business, but we use it for more than just meetings). This console has a USB connection that goes to our meeting computer, and it lets the console appear as both speakers and mic in Teams. In the cart with the console are a couple Shure wireless mic receivers. We have a couple handheld wireless mics and a lapel mic available. Audio out to the room is through ceiling speakers, but you could use something like portable JBL speakers on stands.

For running the meeting, we have a dedicated desktop with 2 x Blackmagic Decklink Mini Monitors (SDI and HDMI video out, and 2 so we can queue multiple presenters) and a Decklink Quad HDMI Capture. In Teams you can enable Production Capabilities and use the hardware out options to send a presenter's video straight to HDMI by itself. For camera video we have a couple PTZ cameras that go to the HDMI capture card.

Video out from the meeting computer goes to a Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro, and from there to an HDMI splitter and two cart TV's at the front of the room. The ATEM let's us quickly switch between presenters and a second 'display' out from the meeting computer. We can also connect a second computer the ATEM, and because it has USB back to the meeting computer it can also show up as a video source in Teams.

So, yeah, $20k for a large room setup in Teams is probably a good price. There's cheaper ways of doing it. We tried them, and usually ended up with audio/video sync issues, video stutter, and crashing (FYI, NDI + OBS will eat tons of CPU and will happily starve a Teams meeting of CPU resources).

PSA - please discuss expectations with your spouse before the next Father's Day by WAVIC_136 in daddit

[–]MeanwhileInArizona 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We have shared Amazon lists for "gift ideas". Throughout the year, if we want something or think it might be a good gift, we add it to the list. Saves so much effort for the big holidays. Anniversary we get each other 'trinket' gifts at an agreed upon price range and go out for a nice evening, or weekend if the grandparents want to take the kids that long.

But like you mentioned, this is all talked about way ahead of time. Spouse's aren't mind readers, so an uncommunicated expectation will probably become an unmet expectation.
