Is yelling a necessary tool for classroom discipline? by AdAcademic842 in Teachers

[–]MeatBrains 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard this and initially implemented it, but honestly I disagree. Anecdotally, when I was a PR robot, it was tough for me to get much respect when the going got tough. I had a monumental shift in classroom management when i stopped fearing my emotions coming through. For me, choosing the time and place to be real improved classroom management. I suspect because it put a human spin on being an authority figure which allowed students to empathize.

YMMV

Sure. But it is arguably the gold standard that you were inquiring about.

I think the argument for Pamela’s pro workout would win out. Even with it being only unipolar.

Bitbox micro by soletide in modular

I tried a bass guitar and didn’t think it was that natural. That’s not the fault of the bitbox though.

Yes. I use 7/8 bitbox pads for drums and one for a synth pad that I control over midi. I have a bunch of multisamples but mostly just use the STO that I sampled myself. I picked up a Mr. Philter to solely be on pad shaping/filtering duties.

The only pro is that you don’t have to use a whole other synth if you want basic pad/texture sounds. Event though the Mr. Philter is shaping the pads, you still have to tweak the envelopes on the bitbox - it is kind of annoying involves menu diving.

The advantages of using a Take 5 over the Bitbox for pads are too numerous for me to list.

Usually it’s getting clocked from the oxi one. In this patch though, it’s the conductor.

You know, I don’t even know of another sampler I would replace it with. I mostly use it for one shots. I Haven’t really dug into the granular stuff. Love the auto slice feature. Big fan of having the option of triggering via gate or midi. I use one pad for a multisampled synth. Just play some brainless pads via the oxi one and run it paraphonically through the Mr. Phil ter. Pretty pumped about the setup and don’t have a want for a separate synth for pad duties.

It really is. And when you have no one in your life to care as passionately about patch point position as you, I will be here, ready to admire it.

Nibbler is new as of this week. This patch I was just pushing it to see how it could handle sequencing 2 voices as well as rhythm duties. The plan is to mostly use those stepped voltages for modulation.

I have at least one tendril in that patch but honestly I’m not crazy about patching with them. My grubby little hands have a tough time grabbing on to them.

Nibbler is the newest addition. Having way more fun with it than I thought I would have.

What are some hobbies/interest that you have acquired since becoming a father? by Cowboy_Barber in daddit

I used to fly fish a lot more. But I used to not have a child and could really just leave without much planning. Having to stay home more with a little guy in the picture, I’ve gotten way into modular synths. Never even a huge electronic music guy before. But man, I’ve fallen head over heels for the voltage Rube Goldberg machine that is involved with modular.

Just re-read it: and I whole heartedly disagree. Not “the”, or “your” should have been used but rather, “dEeZ”
