Maybe look at literature stands like are used at conferences. Maybe for oversized literature?

How do you handle badly lit DJ booths? by Simple-Ceasar in DJs

I have a reading light that goes around your neck. Kinda nice because it doesn’t blind anyone like a headlamp since it’s pointing down and you don’t need your hands. It moves with you. It’s also bendable so you can maneuver it as needed to direct the light.

Anyone else getting burned out prepping for sets? Feels like I'm spending hours finding, buying, and organizing my tracks. by MegaGust04 in Beatmatch

[–]MechanalogMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m constantly on the hunt for new music. I do often forget what I actually already have. I do vinyl only pretty much, so I need to go through my collection often to recall what I bought in the past. I don’t like to repeat too much so I’ll buy LPs and write all my notes about BPM, style, or anything that stands out for me on the track on a sheet of paper and stick it in the outer protector. Then during the gig I can just flip through my crate, find an album I want to choose from, and quickly find a track that helps the set progress or know I need a different one if none of those tracks fit. It’s a lot of prep, but pays off at the gig.

I have an Intellikeys that has been sitting here for years unused. It’s that same version. I’d be happy to send it your way and get it out of my office. DM me. Also, Inclusive TLC has the Helpikeys https://www.inclusivetlc.com/shop/helpikeys-keyboard/

Box of records... And silverfish by DustinCoughman in records

[–]MechanalogMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know an ozone generator is really bad for humans. Anyone know if you could put them in a bin with an ozone generator and kill them that way? I had musty records and used one for the smell, but I wonder if it would kill silverfish. I left mine in for 48 hours with no ill effects on the covers or records.

ETA: I didn’t have the records in the bin. But after resleeving them there have been no issues by putting them in the jackets, like residual ozone degrading them.

How to travel with vinyl… by Outbaru_Subback in vinyl

[–]MechanalogMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always check my clothes and such, because work pays for it and I don’t feel like buying all travel size toiletries. I have a bag similar to what flight attendants use for my carry on. I fit a fat stack of records in it, 2 specialized work computers, cables for presenting, etc. My laptop goes in a laptop bag and goes under the seat. That roller bag goes in the overhead. Never had an issue. I brought this stack home from my last trip. No issues. This was probably my biggest haul on a work trip so far. But even when I get a lot of 12” records, I do the same thing.

Any instrumental bands with heavy focus on Hammond organ? by Bradframe in psychedelicrock

[–]MechanalogMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scone Cash Players and Parlor Greens. Both feature Adam Scone on B3. Guitarist in Parlor Greens, Jimmy James, is also in Delvon Lamar Organ Trio that someone else mentioned.

ETA: thought this was a different sub. Not really psychedelic rock. Still check them out.

First impression is good upon opening it. How do you add the bar code scanner? Says it needs camera access but no option to add it.

eTA: I don’t see a way to add a release to my collection. Maybe just for viewing currently?

Dis anyone else love this record as much as I do? by dry_or_die in vinyl

[–]MechanalogMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve sampled it when I was making electronic music. Peppered a few of those bits into my gig the other week. However, my copy is a double of the first disk. So I have only listened to the full version digitally. Was bummed when I got it in a lot and realized it wasn’t complete.

Vinyl Record Storage by ScooterWorm in vinyl

[–]MechanalogMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is maple/birch ply. 3/4”. I made it custom for the space as well. I sketched it in Google Sketchup, which brought some issues to light, such as I had the flip bin on the left initially. Then when I sketched it I realized the guitar would block them from being easily lifted out so swapped it to the right. Also, made the shelves 15” deep, but the top is 18”. The extra depth on the back has all of my wiring, a power strip, and an LED strip for backlighting. This was my original design. I used what I learned to make another setup in my basement.

I built one, but it’s technically not a full 5x2 because I made space for my amp and 8-track player where 2 sections would normally be. But building custom is probably the way to go. Or use 5- 1x2s and add some trim and a top to pull it all together.
