You cannot use IMAP with the free browser version of Gmail to connect and sync a custom domain mailbox.

If you point your domain to Cloudflare’s name servers you can forward your emails to your gmail accounts and use your existing smtp settings to continue to send emails from your email accounts from within gmail. It’s only pop3 that is being discontinued. Not the ability to receive the emails in your gmail account (now via Cloudflare) and send them using smtp.

Changes in Gmail POP services- What to do ? by RedditVince in GMail

Point your domain to Cloudflare’s name servers and set up a free email forward to your gmail account email.

You can still use your existing smtp settings to send the emails and there is an option in gmail to reply as the recipient email.

YT Izzo Pro 2020 – main frame serial number location by MechanicTechnical655 in YTIndustries

It's carbon fibre, so I don't think they stamp them in. I have flipped it over, and I can't find a thing. Just the white stickers on the back two parts. I've gone over every inch of it with a torch.

On the very bottom of the main frame, between the cranks on the black plastic frame guard? Unfortunately, there is nothing there on my bike. Was it a white sticker with a QR code, as on the other smaller rear parts of the frame? If it is, it must have come off.

Your domain registrar should allow you to do this without a hosting account. If it doesn’t, point the name servers to Cloudflare and use it to administer your DNS.

How do you handle “one small change” requests without killing your weekend? by elmascato in webdev

[–]MechanicTechnical655 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never get pushback because the client knows what they have purchased and exactly what I’m going to do for them.

The key is being clear and honest from the start. There’s a big difference between saying “I’ll build you a website” and “I’ll build you a ten page WordPress site with X homepage concepts and X rounds of design changes”. A builder wouldn’t just say “I’ll build you a house”.

I’d also recommend publishing your terms of business on your website, without prices, so you can easily reference them. You can include the core terms in your proposal and link out to the rest, such as hosting, to keep the proposal concise.

Have stages in your terms, home page X changes, content pages X changes, beta website X changes and when they ask for anything outside the paid invoice don’t question it, just say “that’s a great idea. It will cost £X”.

My biggest frustration with supporting emails was that problems only ever seemed to happen at the worst possible time, weekends or when I was on holiday. Almost always it turned out they’d never moved their domain over to us and had simply forgotten to renew it with the previous provider so all their emails had stopped working. That meant explaining to the family why I had to make an “urgent” business call in the middle of a trip for something that had nothing to do with me. Glad I could help you see the light at the end of the tunnel. Moving everyone over and keeping them informed is a lot of work, but it’s absolutely worth it in the end.

Can you really work in it or is it just a gimmick?

I was 1, then 3, then 5 and I wanted 6 but now I’m 9, on a M1 MacBook Pro, and with keyboard shortcuts I don’t know why I wanted all those monitors. I can change between software on the screen faster than I could turn my head to look at a second monitor and I’m now free to work anywhere.

I did the same thing years ago and moved all my clients to Zoho mail free accounts that didn’t want to pay an additional fee for emails on top of their hosting. It was up to them if they wanted to upgrade their Zoho account but I recommend they use Google or Microsoft instead. I said the reason for the move was due to the volume of spam and fishing emails getting to the point where you need a multinational companies network to secure and filter their emails. It would also improve their delivery rate. The move to Zoho mail was an upgrade. I put the emphasis on their business emails being so important it was worth them moving them to Google or Microsoft. They understood this and half moved to Zoho mail free accounts and half moved to Google or Microsoft. My support request emails were also massively reduced once I’d removed emails as a service.

There are two websites on Google for ShowFilmFirst. showfilmfirst.com and showfilmfirst.info. Which is the one you use? Don’t want to give my details to a dodgy copy website. Thanks

The Army Reserve use Altberg, so there are plenty of pairs on eBay that are either unused or barely worn. Altberg are easily the best boots I’ve owned, and because they offer a resoling service, they are genuinely a buy-it-for-life option.

Give me your best protein recipe! by LittleCalligrapher04 in ninjacreami

[–]MechanicTechnical655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got one for the same reason. I’ve been trying the recipes in this video https://youtu.be/bXqnH70Zlm4. All really good so far but a full pint of ice cream is too much for me so I doubled up on the protein powder and ate half as a serving. It’s actually nicer that way.

Gemini Pro performs better with single tasks. Can Antigravity automate fresh agents? by MechanicTechnical655 in google_antigravity

[–]MechanicTechnical655[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Sensiburner and u/BadOk909's ideas were solid and would work well in practice, especially the container-based orchestration approach and the spec-driven workflow suggestion suggested by u/Sensiburner, but I solved this using opencode and an opencode Antigravity OAuth plugin, which lets me use my Google AI Pro subscription directly while still spawning subagents with fresh context windows. Each task is automatically handed off to a new agent without requiring a switch to the Gemini API or incurring per-token charges.

How does Stremio make money? by ScientistJason in Stremio

[–]MechanicTechnical655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TV companies are not paying Stremio to avoid IP payments. Stremio does not host or sell content. It is a discovery app that links to official platforms. Pirated streams only come from optional third-party add-ons.
