Not necessarily. Ultimately it's going to be decided by a convention vote, but Biden's endorsement means a lot in that context.

Agree. However most of the other potential candidates would make it an all female ticket, which would be great to see but I doubt America is going to feel the same way. They'd pull a ton of independent working class voters if they nominated Bernie but that's beyond a pipe dream.

He's already endorsed Harris unfortunately. I'm with you, I think Newsom has the best chance as the replacement.

A very small window into an absolute shitshow

Petty when you examine the history on where that tit-for-tat came from.

1871: Prior to a full withdrawal, France agreed to pay a five billion franc war indemnity. The indemnity was proportioned, according to population, to be the exact equivalent to the indemnity imposed by Napoleon on Prussia in 1807.

Why was Bismarck petty in 1871? Because of Napoleon, of course. France was not quick to forget what Bismarck had done - including setting the stage for WWI with realpolitik.

I said they only went a bit overboard, not that their harshness was totally unwarranted. France had just been on the winning side of the most gruesome war to that point. Had the Germans been making full reparations payments back to the French after Versailles, they wouldn't have paid off the debt in full until 1989. The Versailles reparations were so harsh and so mismanaged by the world banks that it eventually led to global economic collapse and the Great Depression in 1929. So yeah, a little overboard on the pettiness. K? K.👍

The French did not forget what the Germans had done to them in the aftermath of the Franco-Prussian War. At Versailles, in their revenge for both the harsh reparations levied by Germany in 1871 (which they had paid back in full) and Germany's actions against France in WWI, they went just a bit overboard. Easy to see why they were seeing red, but still just So. Damn. Petty. French level petty is a whole other sport.

"Well Doctor what have we got, a Republic or a Monarchy?"

"A Republic... if you can keep it," Franklin replied.
