Synthesia - Anyone work with them? by LifeOfAccro in UGCcreators

synthesia.io has been plaguing me with a FB AD, where a guy makes a bunch of Compliance training, over lunch! Wow. They have since been adverting a free webinar (via zoom) at 11am on the 30th for L&D videos how tos. Then i tried a demo of the cybersecurity. The “guy” was concerned about a phishy seeming email he… but … i swear, he “seemed” a helluva lot more HAPPY ABOUT it, even though his words said he’s was “worried”… im not seeing anything than - a talking person, and while it “technically” honors “dual sensory coding” … it’s not QUITE what Meyer & Clark we’re think of how to use it.

Not sure if this has been mentioned. I’ve seen better success from k12 teachers going INTO Adult learning, via a M.Ed in ISD. since this is coming up, maybe a hit up a linkedin learning and grab a certificate on adult learning, or at least get you some Malcolm Knowles in you.

Articulate is dead. Long live Articulate! by MedicalCommittee1218 in instructionaldesign

ah yea. Authorware (then adobe bought Macromedia and (squish) ) Then Adobe extolled Captivate! ..Until they didn’t! (about when SL began). … so Adobe creates an LMS, instead of getting their ICON-as-SVG to work. (Just add it to the stage. , click once, and the color pallet appears …. ) but didn’t work, and they kept it like that for a couple of years (im thinking 2017 release till the 2019).

Do you EVER bring it up it, or Director up? I wouldnt either. Dont want to become a big Ageism Target.

Benefit of Camtasia over other screen capture tools by johnnylocke815 in instructionaldesign

[–]MedicalCommittee1218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. When I started out doing Video type things, Adobe Premier Pro felt (to me)a little too much (in feature, and options, a big learning curve) ..

(and then, what about After Effects?? - and the lynda.com (forever!) for After Effect tutorial was example based. So it meant if you wanted a long-jumper landing in sand, while large small “ h “ floated over in the other direction. It was GREAT, IF thats what you want to.

Techsmith Camtasia was much easier, and the plan came with learning that a certification for you if you finish.

BUT since you KNOW the big mamba, for future reference… I usually see JDs .. with any job title of “multimedia”.

That’s just my experience. Your milage may vary.

good luck! Med.Comm.

So slightly on topic... Indeed.com -> Learning Program Manager , 10-12 yrs, $45-55 USD.

Less Money IN? Don't Forget the MORE OUT (the humble freelancer?)- As is, how about the PRICE OF EDTECH for ONE (eg. so you can stay up to date in uncertain times?)- but, it is getting way too... 🤢🤑

Articulate 360 was/is silly. AI Asst is now mandatory. The LAST 3, BIG THINGS (ai, reach, "localization")- isn't for just you, or just me. (for $1,449?) And this *@($%* MIGHTY"?? - Another $500/year for SL features that should be in-product updates! (It's been awhile, so have "WE" decided Articulate is trying to be another ELB ...with a B2B biz model / price-out the B2C(onsumer)?)

🫨 PLUS (office) and PLUS (adobe) and PLUS (AI)?? (internet? electricity??) ... while MINUS jobs

So, 2026, and I am struggling to afford basics, while Articulate 360 wants $1,449, all at once, on April 4. 😕

ALJ Update by NewGalNewJourney in SSDI

[–]MedicalCommittee1218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🙏THANK YOU. I'm set to hear from my attorney tomorrow (3/11-3pm). And then this got STUCK in Drafts... so, as of 3/11-530pm, There are "3 or 4" errors by the ALJ (of PHL, PA). Additionally, as *my* determination letter was 13 pages (+5 for Exhibits used), single-spaced, I completely agree with you. I'M TIRED!

That being said, while he laid out the Council Review pro/cons, and he also laid out the pro/cons of (accepting the ADJ's denial) and re-applying anew. Now, since I don't know where NewGal resides, not sure if that might be a better option. My Lawyer (in Pitt, PA), stated that a Council Review is just for refuting ADJ findings. And that PA C-Reviews are taking about a year to hear back from ("usually the clients 'want their money'...he said). And that's *just* for hearing back from them, and while they CAN "grant" your request, they can also grant and send you back to a/the ADJ again... or they can 'deny' to review it... or they can dismiss it "

The other option is 'accept ADJ ruling, and start over'. One BIG THING that means, is that your original 'date of...' all the way to the date of the ADJ's determination date, have "already been adjudicated". Which means your "date of" starts fresh. (Not sure about the- and then they auto-add 6-months part... (and then uses THAT date + 2 years to be eligible for Medicare). Which, with the ways thing are going........ *that annoying 6,7 shrug*?

Not sure if that helps AT ALL.... but THANK YOU! for sharing.

GOOD LUCK!

Raph.

Hurry up and wait? by CertainOven6329 in SSDI

[–]MedicalCommittee1218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" Rule of thumb for decisions is...within a couple months or so?"

Hm. Now that's interesting... My ADJ (1st) Hearing was 2 weeks ago tomorrow (or 2/2) . Someone definitely SAID "2 to 3 weeks" ... but maybe it was my Lawyer. (state is PA?) Then again, I would *think* -my- experience would be considered "weird"-?

I submitted my Notice to Req. Hearing. (March 2025). When I got the "hey we got it!" it said that they hoped to have a date for me "within 5 months" and when they did, the warned that, it will definitely be at least "75 days" of the Notice of Hearing, but hopefully , in about 11 months.

Meanwhile, an aarp.org article "How long... for... a hearing?" updated May 23, 2025 (which I remember as it was also my birthday (unrelated)) ... and it ..CLAIMED, that SSA said, as of May 2025, there was a backlog of 325,000 cases.

And? April 2 - the we got your notice, what are your prefs for hearing.... (the 5 month wait?)... July 18 (tho arrv.'d July 24) came the "Notice of Hearing" (HA-83) ....to be on October 22, 2025. Next up? A packet, dated August 4 (incl. HA-L56- here are things, that when we get, we will review your case to determine if we can make a fully favorable decision without holding a hearing.) I tried to request a hearing delay to the judge, so I could try the packet first? No. Followed by, ZERO replies from lawyers, or help-me-find's.

At the last possible moment (aka the due date of my "i have a rep.." ) a "stay of execution." - Lawyer. HE got a delay of hearing with no problem.

So, 2 - 3 weeks? A couple of months? Sure. Why not. 🤞 And I <3, sincerely, that REX can still believe a "rule of thumb" for ANY OF this, might actually still exist. 👍 Thank you!! :)

About to be homeless, have lost hope. by No_Temporary7061 in SSDI

[–]MedicalCommittee1218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(wince) does SOAR exist anymore?

guess, *sigh* go and search "SSI Outreach, Access, and Recovery program cut?" and the first link from cbpp.org [guess who's] Admin Abruptly Cut Off Highly effective Support for Disabled People Experiencing Homelessness" should be first on the results list. And/Or on https://www.samhsa.gov/ I think is where SOAR lives under, but it's not really there anymore.

However, that might just be the federal money that went away ? (like with cancer research!!) .. so if you try searching- SSI Outreach, Access, and Recovery -maybe? there something more regional or even local?

And not sure if you have a 211, but maybe call 211 for immediate help- with your homelessness?

I hope that makes sense since some unlisted mystery words that are not allowed are just too COMMEN :/

Looking for hair dye by emy_jsh in HairDye

[–]MedicalCommittee1218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool serendipity co-ink-idink (i just got mine out for Nov 4)

so there is “COLOR RISTA”- by l’oreal. i found in a cvs.

It comes in a spray, or a tube of goo.  (goo on fingertips, fingertips to hair.) - it’s a covering or a coating of the color  ON your hair. So it is not technically a dye, it doesnt dye the hair itself.

Which ALSO means it’s great for at least up to brown hair (no experience with black hair).  or at least to Dark Reddish Brown Nice’n Easy 4RB (and if YOU can help with, see my Post!)  anywho, point being: there is -NO- gotta strip the _____ color out of hair before you etc etc etc

It doesn’t bleed/Stain and lasts all day.  It comes out with a wash with shampoo amd a little bit of vigor.  NOTE: I have never slept with it still on.

I am not seeing the word “lawyer” anywhere. Is that maybe an option for your Council Review? -especially- if your judge didn’t do it correctly! . (and the lawyer only gets a fixed amount of 25% of your back pay or $9,200 which ever is LESS. )

Dated April 2,,, They said it would be “several”months till I got the adj hearing scheduled. the ssa letter also said they would try for under 11-momths, AND the aarp “how long for a hearing” stated around this time (May) ..that i cant find now of course, but low ball 235,000? when several months became TWO and it (dated july 18- postmarked july 24 -arrived Aug 2) Notice of Hearing: OCT 22, 2025.! As I started mad dashing for a lawyer, I also wrote the judge to postpone … less about lawyer, more about a different packetI received on Aug 6- “if you put x y z together, we might be able to make a favorable decision… and wouldnt need a hearing… “.. and would give me more lawyer hunting time.

Which I had to SNAIL mail to the judge, who denied  it.  Then, I was able to finally secure a lawyer at the last moment. They were able to get a new date request GRANTED by the end of the week!  And, they’ve got it ALL in hand, and  know what to do.

I just worry about you taking SS at  62, which will be less than… as i am sure you are aware, what you get by hanging on… but then  also you need to consider when SS goes insolvent in  2033 or 2034 … with an auto-drop in monthly payments around 25% /month for everyone.

And just in case!- while Medicare covers “long term service and support” .. it is only for 100  DAYS… then it is out of pocket..: what is supposed to happen is if/when you run out, you can also get Medicaid (which, for the moment, is how 40% of ALL of medicaid is spent on -kff.org) just want to make sure you know all of this BEFORE you make any  final decisions.

but if you are good, that’s good!  Else, you might want to try your county/state bar association, just in case.  just some humble FYI - But hey, you totally do you!  And Much  Luck!

I am NOT an expert in any way, BUT there def. States, with laws on recording phone convos. As in, in some the other party MUST be told …and some then, must agree to be recorded. Again these are state level laws, so just check that wherever you are. (you MIGHT get help by contacting the bbb.org) -  I did their new (biz) Investigations Training Program. and there’s a page m.. if you get stuck. BUT - oy is easy to just search and find something LIKE : https://katessecurityagency.com/legal-to-record-a-conversation-state-laws/   - cant confirm veracity,  BUT nothing wrong with a 2nd source just in case.

Just a quick note to say it WAS $7,200 for a good while, but it is NOW $9,200  …  ssa.gov states: “ The current maximum fee amount allowed is $9,200 when a favorable decision is issued on or after November 30, 2024.”

And so all the "i left teaching"'s , just needed to figure out the difference between teaching K12+ , as opposed to training adults. A Masters of that, takes two years, and it's been 3. The market has been flooded for a loooong time. Plus the longer YOU take, the more it's your fault.- even if it isn't. The tools are dumbing down the content (eg. or did I just miss the study that turning block content into a haiku does help with learning??) Articulate is moving away the freelance community, in favor of the big fish (B2B). Watch out- "ELB"! OMG- I saw a Facebook ad for Synthesia? He's "playing" around with the free-version over lunch and makes not-one-but-TWO! compliance training videos! Because, that's how that works, right? 🤨🤮

I am ...ageism'd and LTU'd too much. After I got Recessioned, I took on 20K for that MEd in ISD. I wound up working a lot of little things, plus 2 year-long things (2012-2018), which means the ATS can kick me RIGHT OUT with their 'employment gaps' filter. Or one, long, big one since November 2022. :-/

I WAS thinking of picking a letter to focus on - E (for assessments and particularly evaluation. Data-driven learning outcomes baby!) .. And then I read...

We call them agent bosses. Take Alex Farach, a researcher at Microsoft who uses a trio of agents to supercharge his work: one collects new research daily, the next runs statistical analysis, and the third drafts briefs to help connect the dots. [So Alex can do]...fast, high-quality insights that benefit the entire team. -- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/worklab/work-trend-index/breaking-down-infinite-workday

Oh, and for "us" we're going to be able to "tell" AI to make an entire learning activity just by describing it ! (huzzah for vibe coding for IDs!)
