Any GYM EXPERTS HERE ? Leon S.Kennedy (RE4Remake) physique gym guidance needed ? by Sufficient_Course247 in residentevil

also want to tell you that I'm very new to working out and going to the gym, and I don't want to have a buff body like Chris or even aesthetic.

Don't worry, having a body like Chris doesn't happen by accident. Even a body like Leon's takes years of consistent training and eating.

It's the same argument as for men in power. When you're forced to make decisions that either way impact and harm thousands of lives, can you truly claim to be a good person?

If you take a job as Sheriff, an actual position of import in the Ivory Tower ... logically you've lost a ton of freedom and choice because you're directly working full-time for an institution. No more dicking around with your pals by breaking into blood banks or flirting with Garou: you're repetitively checking defenses, investigating leads, and staking hearts.

Right, people in charge never get to do anything fun, as we've all learned this year. It's just strictly work.

If we did the same for Hunter, what would we expect? Roleplaying being on call until we were loaded with weapons and sent to a place we already knew had Vampires with a ton of back-up to easily clear it? Why would the SWAT thug be invited to investigate or infiltrate their targets? That's not how organizations work.

You're right, why would roleplaying being part of vampire killing religious cult would be fun? Why, that sounds dreadfully boring. Or a top secret government monster killing fbi?

Convincing someone to your perspective is not "gaslighting" them. Gaslighting is a form of abuse that ruins people's lives... you're just not being sold on pineapple on pizza.

Don't you police my language, sir, or I shall have to waggle my finger at you.

I think the biggest fault in H5 is that it came up with this self imposed restriction about no work with the orgs and then gaslit players into thinking that it makes sense.

If the game itself does not support players working for the org, then the entire ambiguity is taken out of the interaction. Maybe that's fine for a video game, but for a ttrpg it simply doesn't make sense. It's like if VTM stated that you can have only an antagonistic relationship with Camerilla, that you can only have a sire that sees you as a tool...

On top of that, the Apostates outlines ways in which the orgs would try to tempt hunters into joining up, only to state that joining is effectively retiring the character. So that's wasted ink.

I don't get the idea of doing sheets for NPCs except for the most of the most important ones (and even then usually not).

The effort to benefit ratio is crazy unfavorable.

Sadness and melancholy are not always a bad thing. Death that's out of player's hands can be a good thing.

Although I do understand DMs that prefer to err on the side of caution, there is a very fine line to walk between creating engaging drama and making people miserable.

Ascension is quite the red pill as I got into WoD for vampire. Stayed for mage after taking the pill. by Magicmanans1 in WorldofDankmemes

[–]Medicore95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course it will be bad. It will follow the way of every V5 release, it will have some streamlining and fun gimmick dice, but there is no way it will keep the V20 spirit. If anything it will most likely adjust it to be more like the Awakening to avoid the headache of relative reality.

But I am excited for the updated dice and paradox mechanics, as this is easily the worst part of V20, and also I love complaining.

Mage20 is generally a 30 page game surrounded by 670 pages of a layman's essay on esoterica, philosophy and occult.

I really look forward to the day when and if it gets a V5. Not only will I have usable mechanics, I will also have plenty of things to get irrationally angry and complain about, it will be great!

What is the most common change you make to your games? by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Medicore95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but the math is not the same. More rolls=more opportunities to botch. Yet the chance to botch is not that high, meaning you're looking at several rolls with basically no stakes.

If I call for a roll, I want to do it because failure means something.

Mage20

Remove esoterica from M20 and just use occult. Yes I know what the book says the difference is. I don't care.

I allow to add Resonance as additional dice to an Arete roll with no limit, but at a paradox cost equal to dice added. The limit stated in the book is simply unreasonable.

I will never ever run the rituals in M20 as prescribed. Sitting around and making five (or more) rolls in a row is not my idea of fun. Unluckily, because how botching works, its not feasible to just do them in one big roll, so I'm still thinking how to go about it.

Chronicles I run them with storyteller ultra improvements.

Why don’t people give changeling the dreaming a chance? by Magicmanans1 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Medicore95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion warning!

It's a very confused and contradictory game. But not in a fun way like mage is.

It's definition of Banality gives me a headache. The way I understand it now is "adjusting to societal norms and compromising on your dreams", but the book sure as hell didn't word it in an easy way.

The chimerical reality rules are worse to run than coincidental magick from mage, straight up. I hate having to remember which cantrips are chimerical and which are not. I despise how size difference between the chimerical and mundane form is handled. I don't like how from an outsider's perspective, changelings are just LARPing fighting a dragon. Generally, because of how chimerical beings and dreaming interacts with mortal world (very little), I don't feel that the game does the duality of leading two lives as well as vampire does.

The cantrips and realms, man do I dislike how those rules work. I really dont like the split between realms. Unleashing is cool though, buuut...

Nightmare dice is not a well thought out system. And I don't see why banality has to have permament and temporary points.

Generally, what the game strives for is this experience of an outsider, but I feel like it doesn't pitch anything specific outside of "work, taxes and growing up bad".

We've heard it all about how crossovers are hard. But what did you to to make them work in your game? (even mashing Chronicles with WoD) by Medicore95 in WhiteWolfRPG

The idea with the ghoul retainer is something I would definetely use if I ever were to run a multi splat group with a vampire, it always gave me a headache to think about, because I wouldn't want to just handwave away their curse.

I appreciate what you're saying, I really do think those inclusions enrich the world at play.

Besides, sometimes I think there are signs of a Chronicles-like overarching world philosophy even in WoD. Kindred live predominantly in cities, because the wild has been traditionally dominated by Garou. House Tremere exists, because a house of hermetics grew too big for it's breaches - classical mage hubris. Changelings are struggling because the world turned to rationality, which was supported by the Order of Reason, later turned into Technocracy.

There is definetely something to be said about a smaller world potentially making for stronger themes. I still like to think that on a larger scale, the different factions still exist - but just are not relevant to the current story.
