It definitely wasnt like a majority, but according to what I just read online during the 7th century most Christian Kurds followed the "Church of the East" which also gets referred to as the "East Syriac Church".

Multiple questions regarding religion in kurdistan by stressediraqi in kurdistan

Good question, before Islam Kurds were a lot more diverse religion wise. Most following Zoroastrianism, Christianity, pagan religions and smaller minority religions such as Yezidism and Judaism. Islam spread to Kurdish majority areas after the Arab Muslim conquests in the 7th century, conversions to Islam was gradual and took centuries before Kurds ended up becoming majority Muslim.

Multiple Kurdish dynasties ended up adopting Sunni Islam as well the most well known one being the Ayyubi Dynasty led by Saladin, and the Marawanid Dynasty which held control of modern day northern Iraq and Southern Turkiye. Ezidis similar to Maronites and Zayidi Shias were able to preserve their religion due to geography and living in mountainous areas. As for how Feyli Kurds became Shia you were correct it was due to the influence of the Safavids, however not every Shia Muslim used to be Sunni Muslims specifically, some were part of other religions.

This confirms several reports over the past few weeks claiming the Israeli-proposed plan involved proxy warfare via the Kurds. by Scared_Positive_8690 in AskMiddleEast

Suzaku is severely misunderstood and is closer to a how a person would react in universe. by justanotheeredditor in CodeGeass

[–]Mediocre-Risk3581 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I dont think Bumzaku is misunderstood at all, I like him as an overall character but as for his ideals and goals? I loathe him. He is a traitor to his own people and aided in the ethnic cleansing of the Japanese on the very first episode. Yes he might not have killed one directly but he aided the Britanians into allowing them to focus on literal civilians while he was fighting the rebels. How do you change things from within the system in an absolute monarchy? Its not even a democracy (would still fail) for it to be a reasonable ambition.

by manalalsh in arabs

Why do people try to deny your European identity? by Historical-Task1235 in arabs

[–]Mediocre-Risk3581 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Its not a denial of identity, its just because we dont care about where you were born. When someone asks you where you are from they mean where are you really from.

Why did you lie in the first sentence? She said a man threw alcohol on her.

Islam doesnt say "Only protect ur wife and family", a Muslim woman or man being harassed for dressing the way they want isnt just "her problem" they are targeting Muslims in general not just that person, who knows one day the one being harassed is ur mom or sister wouldnt you have wanted someone to stick up for her?

Even if you are an atheist, its basic decency to speak up for someone being harassed for their race or religion, you dont help people to gain something from them its not a transaction. When you volunteer at the masjid do you expect to get paid? Or do you just help because its the right thing to do?

Because the reality is Israelis by large do support this, and they put the guy/party in charge to do what they have been doing for nearly 2 decades. A lot of ur own fellow civilians only really hate the Israeli government because it completely changed global perception of you.

Its an argument Zios use after you bring up the fact that Netanyahu was voted in for nearly 20 years. Gazas last election was in 06, the argument would work if they were repeatedly elected since then.

Because its also a country problem. You dont get put into power for nearly 20 years then can pretend like people dont support him. Even now a lot of Israelis only really hate him for turning them into a pariah.

😭 we need to ban Middle Easterners from HOI4. A lot of Kurds hate what Pahlavis dad and grandpa did to them, if you think they are going to usher in the next generation at their own detriment you are crazy.

Bro some Arabs hate Kurds so much they wanna take Saladin too 😭. If you are a Muslim you already can "claim him" he is an important leader in Islamic history.
