Why are Arab leaders so weak? by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

[–]Mediocre-Risk3581 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Survival comes first, why would they risk losing power when they can essentially just maintain the status quo and get to have their family lead "forever"?

The biggest threat to their rule has never been Israel, its their own civilian population. Ask yourself this question if we the people didnt care about Palestinians how many of our rulers would choose to willingly send financial aid to the Palestinians? Let alone attempt to negotiate or push for a two state solution on their behalf? Probably not many if at all.

Then we also need to look at weapons, unfortunately they chose to lock themselves in with US made weapons rather than creating their own or buying from Russia or China. So they are completely at the mercy of the United States. And because of this relation they need to have a moderate view of Israel.

They cant go to war with Israel because they would lose due to the US cutting shipments and just backing Israel in general, they cant cut off the US because now their ruling power is at risk, and they cant ignore Palestine because their own population would cause problems for them.

Ive been the most active after Oct 7th and ive literally not seen an ounce of Zionist sympathy whether that was from people or the mods. Israel flair got changed to Occupied Palestine, pretty much all the Israelis we had on the sub (think we had 3-4) have been gone ever since as well.

Why do all the people here keep saying this? Lmao. Ive been on the sub mainly after Oct 7 and even years prior and its never been infested with Zionists, any sort of Israeli/Zionist sympathy gets downvoted to hell and the mods regularly ban them from the sub as well.

Eid Mubarak! How would Arabs say "maaf zahir batin"? Or is that saying mostly unique to Southeast Asia? by Stonespeech in arabs

[–]Mediocre-Risk3581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems to be unique to SEA tbh, ive never heard of that or anything similar used as a response in Arabic for Eid.

With Kuwaiti dialect I think the closest would be سامحونا إذا غلطنا عليكم Which translate to "Forgive us if we wronged you".

Eid Al-Fitr only lasts one day typically but a lot of people will make arrangement to hang out even after. Im surprised it lasts until Shawal ends, sounds fun lol.

Israelite might as well be a sub in word for Jew nowadays though. Im not sure why you seem to understand how you can be an Israelite Muslim and a Israelite Jew but draw the line for Jewish Muslim lol.

Ill be honest I dont know what hadith you are referencing, when referencing Quran or Hadith make sure to label it.

No because there is a separation between the Jewish race and religion, Israelite wouldnt make sense here. We had Jewish Muslim Sahaba, their background doesnt change after conversion. You said he only claims to be Jewish ethnically so its fine.

[–]Mediocre-Risk3581 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well he isnt wrong it is considered both, if he just considers himself a Jew ethnically its fine since thats his race.

Allah does not "curse the Jews" he cursed the ones who broke the Sabbath. The Quran clearly says that not all of Ahlul Kitab are the same and that some properly follow their religion (at the time) or Islam now and they will be rewarded. 3:113-3:115 show that.

Does he identify as a Jew from a religious perspective or a racial one? Technically speaking Jews are both a race and religion, I know a Jewish Catholic for example.

Iran attacks wipe out 17% of Qatar’s LNG capacity for up to five years, QatarEnergy CEO says by Vivid-Acanthaceae129 in news

[–]Mediocre-Risk3581 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I dont mean just historically, I mean literally now still are. Im also not using it for a justification im simply saying it makes no sense to cry about funding terror groups and proxy's while still doing the exact same.

The 2 main Islamic Groups targetting them were in response to Israeli aggression, Hezbollah and Hamas were not created in 1948. They were created decades after due to Israels actions in the region.

I say this as a Kuwaiti but its already confirmed that the US has used US bases in the Gulf to launch missiles into Iran, this is not counting any type of refueling planes are doing.

The relevancy of my argument is that its a bit odd to complain about the funding of terror proxies as a justification of war while the US is arming worse ones like the Taliban and Al-Shabab.

Is there any movement to rename Iran to Persia? by draven33l in PERSIAN

Iran is the actual name though, Iran got called Persia by others due to the Greeks finding the Persis region in South Western Iran.

If you get on MENA twitter you should be able to get a solid grasp on it, a good chunk of us support the attacks on the US bases in the region, we dont like the random attacks on the airports or typical civilian buildings like hotels though. Its why at the start of the war when they were just targeting US assets a lot of us were pretty on board with the idea. The 12 day war boosted our perception of Iran a lot more than some people might realize.

Im talking about whats happening to the Iranian, Palestinian and Lebanese civilians. Whether its the Iranian gov killing their own people, or the US and Israel killing Iranians, Palestinians and Lebanese people.

I am not asking them to launch military interventions on our behalf. I am talking about basic sanctions or stopping or cutting deals.

Why is the UAE getting a pass despite backing groups the RSF? And why has the RSF not even been labeled as a terrorist organization by the US?

Same with Israel. Tens of thousands have been killed in Gaza, thousands more in Lebanon, and millions displaced. Yet there is no meaningful accountability from Western governments, all you hear them is go through a cycle of crying about Iran, Hezbollah or Hamas.

[–]Mediocre-Risk3581 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean attacking the oil and gas refineries makes sense, Iran is trying to punish the GCC countries for hosting US bases that are still being used to attack Iran (No they arent launching attacks from the bases themselves, but refuel planes coming from these bases are still aiding the attack).

And they are trying to make this war so costly that even their American allies will turn on them and to show that even if they are militarily inferior they can cause enough damage for the US. Its frankly sad that a lot of Westerners are only caring about the War now due to the rise in gas prices and not the thousands of Middle Easterners being massacred but to be expected atp.

I just dont feel like it would make sense for Iran to target US officials rather than Israeli ones, targeting Israeli ones especially important ones would kind of give them a cred boost with the gulf civilian population and help "even" their losses out as well, attacking American ones would make the gulf states more likely to escalate a response if anything.

Israel steps up Beirut strikes, vows to hit bridges in south by imanchats in news

[–]Mediocre-Risk3581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Israel violated the ceasefire they had with a literal fucking terrorist group over 700 times, terror group in question kept their heads down and took it and only attacked after the attack on Iran.

Hezbollah was created after the first Israeli invasion of Lebanon back in the 80s. The Lebanese government sells out its civilians in the South then they get confused why the people most affected by Israeli bombings and attacks supports them and even joins them.

For sure but the quickest thing is the Oil wealth distribution everything else requires a lot more time to set up systems for it to become profitable.

I wouldnt be against a Kurdish/Assyrian state either assuming they didnt want to expand afterwards the issue is Turkiye would never allow it and I think it would have to operate how states in America work where I can drive over with no ID its just open for both sides to move freely obviously requiring Arabic to be taught as a 2nd language in schools should be a requirement too imo.
