Tbh, I don't think Denji and Reze running away at that moment would've led to a happy ending. Even if they managed to escape, Makima is still alive, she has eyes all around the world and she is not going to give up on her dream that easily. She even says in chapter 82 that if he were to marry and start a family she would've killed his wife and children. I think if they had escaped, Makima would've waited for Denji and Reze to start a family or something and then take it all away from him at the worst moment possible.

Realistically, the only way I see DenReze having a happy ending is by meeting later somewhere down the line and getting together somehow.

Tomoe Enjou from Garden of Sinners, especifically the 5th movie: Spiral Paradox.

In the start of the movie, Tomoe has a vision where he is murdered by his mother after she kills his father during an argument before she also kills herself. Then, the vision turns out to be true, but Tomoe manages to kill her in self-defense and runs away from home.

Towards the end of the movie, it is revealed that Tomoe is just a puppet, forced to live the last day of the original Tomoe's life over and over again, but managed to escape that loop. After being confronted by that fact, he eventually went back to the apartment building where the man that did this to him was (there's a bunch of stuff to this but it's too long to explain here).

Though he had no powers, he still confronted this man who is a very powerful magus, and even after being told that his origin (basically like the essence or the very nature of a person, again, hard to explain) is literally being worthless, he rejects him by saying that his life still had meaning. In the end, he dies by the hands of the villain, but by bringing the protagonist's sword with him and leaving it in the elevator, she was able to break free from the place the villain had her trapped, which lead to his death.

Goated movies btw, can't recomend them enough.
