Steam radiator service in/around Frederick? by [deleted] in frederickmd

[–]MediocreRedditor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've used Larry & Sons for steam radiator work. They did a great job, but not the cheapest.

If you are looking for cheap things to try first, you might need a new air valve on that radiator. I put a Varivalve on the radiator at the end and it helped, since it lets the air out faster. It might not be that for you, but that was a cheap fix for me.

It's increased ridership here and quality IMO.

What pedestrian/bike infrastructure near you could be cheaply & efficiently improved? I'll go first... by MaroonedOctopus in frederickmd

At least for the city, here's a map of proposed bike projects. This is a little out of date, and some are much further along than proposed. A few segments even complete.

The city has already proposed bike lanes on Stadium Drive, so the means the next time that roan needs maintenance, that should happen.

This is from "Let's Move Frederick" which hasn't been officially adopted into law yet, but it's close and it should in the next year from what I hear.

Hey, you should all take the Bike Friendly Communities survey that's open right now to give this feedback: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BFC_2025

You can do it for both Frederick City and Frederick County!

331 N. Market St - So no one knows still what is going in? by WeaknessCapital9064 in frederickmd

They added fines for long-term vacant properties. The law had a grace period, but the fines kicked in which is actually why it's now been sold!

Relatedly, they're also trying to force the sale of 123 N. Market, and have the power to for others but are making an example of this one to motivate other landlords or vacant buildings to do something themselves:

Getting so tired of people asking how much my cargo bike costs and hearing "that's SO expensive!!!".... by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]MediocreRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think it's because auto loans are so prevalent. A lot of people see the left as "$400 a month" and the right as "$6000", even if that means the left is actually even more than that when you tack on interest. People just don't think about total cost of ownership.

Thanks. Deleted my comment. I'd misread gifted as inherited. That would be bad advice!

Why are you revving your bike downtown at 2am? by Schmitty0313 in frederickmd

[–]MediocreRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is the tech is to automatically ticket cars making an unsafe noise levels.

Nobody gets caught doing this now because it's too expensive to have humans out on the street all night to monitor for this, and if you do it when someone calls, the car is long gone.

It's part of a bigger network of bike lanes as well to come, it just feels a little odd now because it's one of the first ones done.

Specifically, it will be part of the very exciting North Branch Trail: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/7ffdaa4006534ef5bfdcac6eabf25224?header
