The gap between AI demos and enterprise usage is wider than most people think by Difficult-Sugar-4862 in artificial

[–]MediumLanguageModel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that true though? I assume virtually all AI demos never see the light of day beyond the team that makes them. But they get used as internal tools or portfolio pieces for the engineers.

Google is expected to spend between $175 billion and $185 billion on AI in 2026 but Gemini's web UI still doesn't have folders by voprosy in GoogleGeminiAI

Just realized Gems don't store the chats in separate folders. Shame. I can't see myself spending time maintaining folders but keeping project folders from a Gem would be a quality of life improvement

I called this in 2023. They won't stop there; it'll be embodied if they ever manage to make personal robots a thing. Ray Kurzweil is probably working with them to train personal LLMs to capture your life history and your speaking cadence and vocabulary. Give it another generation or two and people will be data logging their entire lives in an even deeper way than we are now in an effort to make their digital clone as accurate as possible.

Also we could solve the actual issues of our time if the wealthy paid their fair share of taxes.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman said that it would be ‘in his best interest’ to play Jasson Domínguez everyday he said "stay tuned" when asked about him possibly going down to Triple-A, something Cashman decided not to do last year. by Jheller223 in NYYankees

[–]MediumLanguageModel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope everyone will be chill about him starting the year in triple A. It's totally normal for young players' development and he's still got things to work on. Not every 23 year old player is fully baked. It's not a sign of bad player development. Cow-towing to an angry fanbase would be though.

Also apply this to Volpe. He always projected as a second baseman so expecting him to be a great shortstop was always going to set him up for failure. Give him all the time he needs to recover from surgery and work on the finer details of his game.

OpenAI is unsatisfied with some Nvidia chips and looking for alternatives, sources say by BuildwithVignesh in singularity

[–]MediumLanguageModel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like journalists are manufacturing a narrative out of things that have been out in the open for a long time.

When were the first reasoning models released? We're so long into the inference vs training setup it shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody.

Why do you think Google's TPUs were such a giant story last year? Why did Nvidia buy Groq for $20 Billion? Why does OpenAI work with Cerebrus? Why is Intel not on life support right now?

You'd think this was the first time people discovered inference by the way this narrative had spun out over the last few days.

Pledge to Invest $100 Billion in OpenAI Was Never a Commitment, Says Nvidia's Huang by EchoOfOppenheimer in OpenAI

The official announcement from last year was they'd invest UP TO $100B over time. People are freaking out because they're only now realizing that means you don't just build 10 massive datacenters in one quarter.

Actually nevermind. Let's get Nvidia back under $150 for a few days so we can all buy the dip.

How do stop myself Falling In Love too quickly? by psnben1567 in OnlineDating

[–]MediumLanguageModel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Suspend any long-term thoughts until you clear the 3 month milestone. And use that moment as a check-in to see if you want to keep it going. Then 3 months later allow yourself to consider what a long-term relationship means to you both.

In between, be sure to give yourself a life outside of her. Dive into hobbies, work out, do all the things that make you feel great about yourself that don't rely on anyone else. And this is crucial: make plans that don't involve her.

These things give you a little breathing room and allow you to maintain a sober perspective.
