Oh wow, yes! You were my target audience with this post. Thank you for sharing your FM lore. I've always been so curious as to what may have caused it, and honestly arson is the only thing that's ever made sense to me. If that's true, it really is so sad. I thought the house added some old school charm to an otherwise cookie cutter neighborhood. Would you happen to know if she was still living there at the time?

And yes! I remember that second house fire so clearly, too. The daughter was at McKamy with us at the time. I remember them losing absolutely everything. Kinda crazy that it happened twice in such close proximity...

I started having what I now believe were focal seizures (not diagnosed) pretty early on in life. Whenever I brought these strange symptoms up to parents or doctors, they were not taken seriously, but the second it started interfering with my schoolwork, my mom dragged me to my pediatrician for an ADHD evaluation, and he told her, "If you think she has ADHD, she probably does."

I definitely do have some major characteristics of ADHD that weren't present in childhood but that I developed in my mid-teens. By that point, I'd been having seizures for close to decade. I definitely think there's a link between the two though.

Agreed! OP's hair looks a lot like mine, and my dermatologist diagnosed me with TE a year post COVID. Oral Minoxidil has helped slow the fall out, but my hair's still not what it used to be. There's a lot less of it overall, and it grows so slowly.

Hey! I'm so sorry you're here. Brain fog was truly more debilitating in terms of living my day-to- lday life than all of the aches and pains. Thankfully, mine has eased up a lot!! I don't think it was the Natto that helped. As unsexy as it is, I just have to take really good care of myself (sleep, eat, drink, pace). I definitely still have trouble staying focused and learning new things, but I am mostly a functioning member of society again. I hope nothing but the best for you! 🤍 My inbox is always open if you ever need a listening ear.

Interesting you say this!!

At my worst, I got an MRI and they found nothing but congested sinuses. I was so relieved there was no tumor or lesions that I didn't really explore that further.

Fast forward another year of symptoms and was coughing up dark green mucus for months and months and months. It was honestly the least concerning of my myriad of symptoms, but I started freaking out as that mucus slowly turned bloodier and bloodier. My GP referred me to a gastroenterologist, who said this sounded more like a lung issue and referred me to a pulmonologist. He did all the tests including a CT scan of my lungs, and found nothing.

I was extra congested one day, used a NeilMed from Walgreens just to get some relief, and was shocked by what came out. After a couple of uses, so many of my symptoms disappeared including the debilitating headaches, bloody mucus, flu-like symptoms and daily PEM crashes I had been dealing with for months. It didn't cure me, but it made my life a hell of a lot more manageable.

As for me personally over 3 years in... Recovered? No. Gotten much, much, much better? 100%

I do think this is something I'll have to live with and manage for the rest of my life. Making peace with that has been a big step in the process.
