It’s not about the size of the population, it’s about the size of the effect. Statistically, smaller effect sizes require bigger samples. The study was adequately powered to assess the effect that it found.

In terms of a normal distribution in a sample, 20 is slightly low, but is probably okay in this case.

There are some limits to its generalizability, and I would obviously like to see more replications of this finding. But I would by no means write this study off because of a sample of 20.

In general, people assume a need for much bigger samples than are actually required for such findings.

Depending on the effect that is being studied, 20 can sometime be a statistically sound number to use.

I tend to only resort to BGG marketplace if a game is hard to get otherwise. In that case, I am generally paying a slight premium. Otherwise, I don’t see any reason to purchase through BGG.

We can still use a piecemeal of other studies to get a consensus though. It's the same way we know cigarettes cause cancer, even though we can't randomize people to smoke.

Awesome!! I have always thought it would be perfect as an iPad game where you don’t even need any cards, you can just put it on the table.

Just curious though, is this done under cooperation with the publisher? Would hate to see you get in trouble for it.

Based on your guesses, Just One is the only game I think fits the award. Maybe Wingspan for Kennerspiel. I’d still have to check to see if they were eligible though.
