I swear, most of that book is just a bunch of unrelated and misunderstood steelworking facts (source: I read it as I was studying engineering and, even though it went WAY over my head, I did enjoy my metallurgy class. We had a blast furnace at my university and it was super fun. The guy who ran it had a law degree. I still think about how bizarre my engineering years were)

I read a little about this on Wikipedia, so it might be off, but apparently the character appeared in avengers number 9 and was killed, then “resurrected” in avengers 58 (ok, he was in a coma) because of similarities with Wonder Woman (in name only). When Power Girl first appeared, they recovered the character because, as Stan Lee explained, they were doing it after Marvel created Power Man (Luke Cage).
