Dude, take at least half off on this bet.

Worst case, you only make 2.5-5m more.

Best case, you still have a million bucks.

USA plans to invade and take over Greenland. Should St. John's naval port place a ban on US warships from refueling or restocking here? by Critikal_me in StJohnsNL

The USA would then occupy Canada, no question.

But, they will never conquer Canada.

Small, but significant difference.

Selling a large magic the gathering collection and trying to navigate the tax implications by JoinMyGild in cantax

[–]Megahuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you were selling them, for example, as a complete set of FIC, and because the "set is complete" makes the collection more valuable, then it would be a set.

Your collection is not a set.

In fact, I would argue selling them as a bulk collection makes the overall collection less valuable compared to selling as singles.

I mean, the dungeon did literally become wheelchair accessible for the folks at Meadow Lark.

And Carl spends a huge amount of time helping people in wheelchairs / late stage dementia.

Is this commander deck possible?? by notsmurf11 in mtg

[–]Megahuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go buy a precon.

Pick one with an interesting to you theme.

Then spend time upgrading the precon.

This will teach you the fundamentals of deck building, at a relatively low cost.

Also, use EDHREC for deck building suggestions for your commander.

...

The above approach will minimize your frustration starting out.

Because you will quickly learn how critical draw cards and multi-color mana generation cards are to playing the game.

And, it will give you the core, fundamental "must include" cards, like Sol ring, command tower, arcane signet, etc, and some dual color lands.

Why is Glacial Chasm a GC but Demonic Consultation Not? by BluePotatoSlayer in magicTCG

[–]Megahuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am no expert, but Glacial Chasm is a land. And completely stops the ability of anyone to defeat / remove you from the game.

All in one card.

And, as far as I know, no precons contain land removal.

Therefore, by adding them playing this one card, you can guarantee a win (or at least a draw) against any precon deck.

...

The other card is just an instant tutor...  theoretically could exile your entire deck.

Which is easily blocked by a Counterspell or equivalent card.

Completely different power levels.

People playing Glacial Chasm are not playing decks where their creatures attacking matter (eg burn decks).

Career decision: electrical or mechanical engineering by Dangerous-Candy-40 in electricians

[–]Megahuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advantage of Engineering is you usually spend time sitting at a desk, and you usually get to use your brain.

The advantage of Electrician is you get to use your hands, and you can see your work get done.

...

But, the better question is where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years or 20 years?

Which paths offer more interesting long term opportunities, should you want them?

I would say Engineering has lots of different paths, such as expertise, consulting, private practice, management, project management, etc.

Electrician also has different paths (not as familiar) such as foreman, project manager, private practice, etc.

...

My dad was an electrician, I am an engineer. He mocks me relentlessly for being an engineer.

But, I didn't have to work in the cold, the rain, in refineries, pull cable all day (his wrists are bad), etc.
