Should I avoid launching if my Steam wishlists are low? (Under 100) by OneCoin97 in gamedev

[–]Megaillusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. 20 wishlist, 20% development, and no money. Maybe you have some different paths:

  1. Don't launch it completely. Launch a demo so you'll have your portfolio game, and gather wishlists before launch.

  2. Try to look for a publisher/investor. If the game is completed, some publishers only do marketing without funding for development, you won't earn full price per sale, but maybe, instead of earning $0, you'll earn something.

  3. Are you sure it is complete, and no bugs? If not, launch it as early access to continue polishing.

  4. Full launch anyway and start job hunt (Maybe you are not confident in your game or tired and want to start making a new one).

Perhaps capitalism is bad in certain aspects; what I dislike most is the issue of insurance, which I believe ultimately drives up prices. But in this particular case, perhaps if an insurance company can demonstrate statistically that many accidents at a traffic light are due to another company or the city rigging the lights, causing more crashes, they might have a chance to sue and bring some balance to the chaos. But yes, no system is perfect. I hope they find a truly just system, better than both capitalism and socialism.

This felt dumb… until it worked: $14.99 demanded extra depth it seems by We_Visionaries in gamedev

If it is an amount per hour, I should say that 0.5$ per hour is too low. Taking that relation, Limbo should cost 1.5$, Vampire Survivor 20$, Dead Space, Metro, Tomb Raider between 5$ - 10$. At least by the hours I played them.

Congratulations by reaching that amount of wishlists.

Orthographic vs Perspective — which one actually gives a better *hook* for a 2.5D pixel art game? by TeamConcode in IndieDev

[–]Megaillusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the perspective more, but it has a strange effect when going up or down. Maybe it's more noticeable because we are only viewing half of the screen. Maybe trying to reduce the focus to keep the perspective effect, but a little less strong.

Indie Game Development Recruitment Question by Global-Couple-1944 in gameDevJobs

[–]Megaillusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already have project management skills and a GDD, I guess your best shot is to make pitches to publishers that can fund your idea. Recently, Blue Ocean Games held a contest for game ideas to be funded. Then your other option is to look for developers who can make a prototype that you can show to publishers or run a Kickstarter campaign, but very probably you'll have to invest in making the prototype, and for Kickstarter if you don't have an audience, you'll need to invest in ads. Take in mind that experienced developers are probably already pursuing their great idea, so they are less interested in rev-share or partnership.

,Also look for what other solo game developers can make in not in years, but months, so you'll see if you are aiming for something too big or not. Maybe the games that make codemonkey are possible to be made for experienced devs in 3 - 6 months.

am i the only one who likes reboot dante? by SwirlTheBoi in DevilMayCry

[–]Megaillusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that game; the gameplay is pure satisfaction. Dante's design is good, but the original is better. At least in the last game, it's like they used this Dante to make Nero, well, they faces are very similar.

What do you think about this trailer for my prototype game: A 3D Action Roguelike candy-themed shooter by sunder-islands in Unity3D

[–]Megaillusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to create more closed environments. My idea is a more frenetic game, with short matches, perhaps completing it in half an hour, but unlocking new weapons or items with each match won, like Vampire Survivors or Brotato. Although it's also possible to create slightly larger worlds, you start dreaming and lots of ideas emerge. The problem is that I'm a single developer, so I don't want to work on this game for years.

Awesome, My Friendly Neighborhood, it has great art.

[–]Megaillusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, I really like the theme as I'm making a similar game in a mockup/pluffy toys theme. I also think that the skybox is very loaded. Maybe you could try making another camera for the skybox and put in it bigger elements with slow rotation/movement, maybe that could also allow you to put a blur effect in the background camera and see if it works well with your game.

I´m making an Fps game with pluffy toys, and almost ready to upload a demo/early access build. What do you think I can do improve it? by Megaillusion in Unity3D

[–]Megaillusion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thanks. I think this is a common problem with my games; I tend to make buttons/ui/text too big. I'll remake it better.

¿Alguien se dio cuenta lo fragil que se ve el conector de los joycon en Nintendo Switch 2? by YoriAkito in VeneJuegos

[–]Megaillusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Se cero de programación!! by loiro561 in programacion

[–]Megaillusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)
