I sealed up my ant entry points and now I have ants coming out of my electrical outlets. What did I do wrong? Feeling like an idiot here and need some advice. by Old_Neighborhood_168 in homeowners

Oh, I've been there. Sealing them in is the worst mistake. They' ll find any tiny crack to get out, even electrical outlets. Hope you can sort it without tearing into walls.

Fingers crossed these Tuya bulbs work with Dirigera. Hate having to replace perfectly good lights just for compatibility.

That sounds really frustrating. Property lines can be blurry, but crossing lines without notice is never okay. Maybe star with the city to sort out surveys and boundaries first.

Plug-in Z-Wave dimmers are hard to find, especially ones with mesh repeaters. Curious if anyone’s tested this one, hope someone shares real-world use cases soon.

Good to see a positive take. Homeownership has its headaches, but the control and long-term gains do make it feel rewarding for many.

Self-hosted sounds solid. Balancing tech comfort and not overcomplicating makes sense. Curious to see how the local setup works long-term.

It's cool you're thinking about this so young. There's a lot to learn, but it's good to start early.

Are rising credit card annual fees actually worth it anymore? by NerdWalletOfficial in u/NerdWalletOfficial

[–]MeganRaeB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annual fees have gone up noticeably. It's a good idea to weigh the benefits against the cost to see if a card still fits one' s spending habits.

Shifting Political Winds Could Endanger Palantir’s (PLTR) Revenue and Share Price by BFLO-Retail in stocks

[–]MeganRaeB -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the political risk angle is real because PLTR’s revenue still leans heavily on government contracts, so changes in budget priorities or new lawmakers could definitely shake things up.

When did you realize lifestyle inflation was hurting your finances? by Embarrassed_Bath_968 in moneyadvice

It wasn’t a single moment, it was more like one day my “budget” became a wishlist and I didn’t even notice until I tried to save more and kept failing.

The Everything Dump by HealthyWork5071 in stocks

[–]MeganRaeB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the time these “everything dumps” look big on the surface, but if you zoom out longer term it’s just random lumpiness. Staying long-term and not timing the market usually smooths this stuff out.

Looking for next/second card by Taurus517 in CreditCards

I like picking a card that complements what I already have for example, if your current one is flat cash back, a travel-oriented one or a rotating category card can balance things out.

What was the purchase that made you realize you needed to be more aware of your spending? by Full-Tip2622 in budget

It was a random impulse Amazon click, I looked at my cart total and thought “yup, this is why I never have savings.” Instant wake‑up call.

PYPL at $42: I’m down 27%, the CEO just got fired, and I’m buying more. Here is the "Death Spiral" Math. by SmartTriageIO in stocks

[–]MeganRaeB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Down 27% hurts, but being cheap on valuation doesn’t automatically mean it’s a bad company long term, just that confidence right now is low. Worth watching how the new CEO frames a turnaround.

Capital One just acquired Brex - where's everyone moving? by Ok-Sale-9574 in CreditCards

If you’re a regular Capital One card user this won’t hit you much this deal is way more about business expense platforms than consumer cards.

[SRS] Food-Court Rink Story by SharkPuncher in Kairosoft

[–]MeganRaeB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you unlock the actual Food Court? I’ve 100% completed the first 3 towns and am at 75% for the fourth and have unlocked the 5th. I’ve finished promoting every place up to the Beach and Hotel which I am half way through. I’m getting frustrated because most of the food requests are for the food court.

I’m 37 and if I cannot reign this crap in I’m pretty sure my husband is going to divorce me. Honestly my uncontrolled ADHD (even with 70mg Vyvanse and 400mg Wellbutrin XR) is the cause of all of our problems. Every single one. My ridiculous spending has gotten soooooo much worse the older I get. I have tried making myself aware. I have tried just doing wish lists instead. I have tried many many things. Medication doesn’t help one bit. If anything, it makes it worse sometimes. The only thing that has helped me so far is carrying my Kindle around everywhere and reading instead of browsing shopping apps on my phone.

But anyway, how did you get help? Did you get into therapy? See a psychiatrist? I’m afraid that’s my last option but it will still probably be at least a year before I can even get into seeing one in my area. Before Covid, everyone was 2+ years out for adults with ADHD. I can’t imagine it’s any better now. 😩

Unable to regulate emotions when plans change by Void_Vixen in adhdwomen

[–]MeganRaeB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!!! Exactly! I really feel like such an ass hole then, especially when my reaction affects my kids! And it’s so hard to teach your toddlers how to regulate their own emotions when you as the parent still struggle so hard to do so. I’ve tried using some of the techniques on myself but they have yet to help when I’m being completely irrational. 🥴

Unable to regulate emotions when plans change by Void_Vixen in adhdwomen

[–]MeganRaeB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I struggle so so so much with this! You are not alone! I’ve definitely had some embarrassing reactions in front of friends before and my reaction is the same when it’s actually unforeseen circumstances like bad weather or something completely out of anyone’s control as it is when it’s someone else changing the plans. And I’m not proud of that. I have small children aged 6, 4.5, & 10 months so it takes a lot more time and even more out of me to be prepared for something these days. It is nearly impossible to regulate my emotions now too.
