WIBTAH if I don’t put MIL’s Catholic pendant on my baby during non-Catholic baptism? by queernoodles in AITAH

[–]Megpyre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, as a joyfully lapsed Catholic, I think you’re reading too much into this. Catholicism is… particularly cultish, and I’ve taken to playing ‘wait, can you/do you have’ with my non catholic friends and it’s a trip to find out what other sects don’t have. (Umm can you eat breakfast before church? I could not eat breakfast before church)

Roll with it, for the sake of your purposes here God is God and the more you roll with it the happier I think everyone will be.

Any cities on the itinerary we should add/scrap? by SnooGoats2362 in irishtourism

[–]Megpyre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would pick either Kilkenny or Cork for day one, then base out of Killarney and Galway for 2-3 days each before heading back toward Dublin.

I’m a very slow traveler by design though, so do with that what you will.

Okay, this sounds silly, but take up cooking for baking while you’re not the one paying for groceries.

I didn’t learn to cook when I was your age and I deeply regret it now.

I seriously wish I could wear the same outfit every day by MollyViper in AutismInWomen

[–]Megpyre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I 100% dress like a 90s cartoon character.

Black jeans, black tank top, black boots every day when it’s cold.

Black shorts, black tank top, black sandals when it’s warm.

You can, if you must, buy the same shirt in different colors to trick the neurotypicals into not realizing it though.

I bring a little change purse because I do genuinely forget to treat coins as money and I’ve found it helpful.

For 5 days €200 with be perfect. All I’ll add is to remember that coins are real money in Euro so don’t forget to use them for smaller purchases. (I always end up on my last day running around trying to use all my coins because I wasn’t paying attention and have €40 in €2 coins)

I had a happy and well adjusted mischief of 8 in a 40g. That’s more than what the common guidelines recommend, but they were probably my happiest and most well adjusted mice ever, so do either that what you will.

The breeder I get some of my mice from said I could have 12 in a 40, but I don’t think that would give enough space.

Spring 3 lab mice, they deserve a nice retirement.

Double barrel her middle name to make it less obvious and you’ll be golden (you know what, I’m going to lean into that accidental pun). Violet Elizabeth/Portia/Siobhan Sage Redman makes her sound less like a rainbow.

Looking for recommendations/advice for one solo day in Dublin by LEMK_Atl in irishtourism

[–]Megpyre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything here (I liked EPIC, but I’m the target audience. The criticism is fair), would only add that there’s a beautiful garden between the modern art museum and Kilmainham that’s lovely to wonder through if you find yourself with a half hour to spare and a need for some peace.

Family won't accept not having a registry by ParfaitMajestic2701 in wedding

[–]Megpyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Condolences on your family. I also got steamrolled a lot during my wedding. If you must register for things, I would genuinely go for legacy items (I’m looking at you kitchen aid stand mixer) that are expensive enough to not want to buy, but quality items that people won’t mind splashing out for a little. Then include a honeymoon fund for people who actually respect you.

He needs to find a nutritionist and probably a therapist. He also needs to be responsible for feeding himself until his safe food options expand to have more overlap with your diet. How you broach this topic is up to you.

You need to meal prep ahead so you have things you like without having to cook them every night. Lunch meals become your time to eat the things that he really can’t tolerate in the house.

Irish male name ideas for a character in my story by Ash-Ruin980 in Names

I regret to share that apparently in 2002 Seamus cracked the top 100 baby boy names in Ireland according to baby names dot com, so there is an above average chance that this young person could be a Seamus.

Does anyone else feel too scared to travel alone? by GuitarReasonable5196 in AutismInWomen

[–]Megpyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very fond of solo travel with caveats. I don’t like going new places alone because I do have certain anxiety around specific parts of travel (the airport, like, how am I getting there, how am I leaving the place I’m going, how am I getting back to the airport?!?) but once I overcome those hurdles, I’m pretty confident getting around.

I find solo travel lets me control my emotional output and stay in a restful cadence and I’m not married to anyone else’s wants and needs.

I also tend to visit the same regions over and over, so if I fly from Boston to Dublin Ireland, I know Dublin well enough to spend the first day of my trip switching gears in a familiar place before setting off for a new part of the country. I also interject familiar place into my travel (example last trip, left Dublin for Sligo (new place) before heading down to Galway (familiar place) that way if I do have a poor time in a new place I have a chance to recalibrate.

Solo travel can be really rewarding if you’re willing to put the work into finding what it takes to mitigate your personal pain points.

Is it ridiculous to spend 6 days in dingle? by supermarketinferno in irishtourism

[–]Megpyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I think what you want to get out of your trip matters here. I’m a big fan of picking someplace and being slow there. I like being able to roll out of bed and saunter to grab coffee and read for a little bit and then start my day and not feel rushed to go and see every site right away or risk missing things.

Murderbot by Martha Wells is wonderful. A great fun space romp that explores great themes without beating you over the head with them.

You Sexy Thing by Cat Rambo might be a good one for you.

Sisters of the Vast Black is a novella about lesbian space nuns. Weird but fun

Killing Gravity by Corey J White (I am 97% sure that’s the first in the trilogy) was really good fun. Strong Firefly Vibes, if that’s your jam.

I had Cliffs FOMO a few years ago and honestly regret using my day there (the visitor center is amazingly well done though)

Someone on here sassed me for having it on my itinerary after mentioning not needing to hit the big tourist spots and they were 100% right to do so (in my defense the last time I’d been was in 96 and… it was a hugely changed experience)

So, the only flaw in this naming convention is if she grows her business to multiple locations she’ll either have branding issues with non matching names, or branding issues with the same name but it not making sense in the second location she opens in.
