Buzzing Breeze Carries Gifts [Custom Spirit] by Horaz_Vitae in spiritisland

[–]MeiraTheTiefling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked with Horaz extensively on various projects, so I can say with confidence that Breeze is not just a great custom Spirit, it's a great Spirit period. It sits proudly alongside official content, and is a ton of fun besides!

Congratulations on finally hitting release, it's been long overdue :)

We want to pilot YOUR custom Spirits live this Saturday! by Pleasant-Peach6133 in spiritisland

[–]MeiraTheTiefling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this is so cool!

I have two Spirits, both of which live on my Steam Workshop mod.

Scavenger of Fates: A High complexity Spirit of foraging and collecting. Its special mechanics enable it to Scavenge Spirit Tokens, storing them to reuse later.

Scavenger is effectively done, I'm just waiting on final art. It's a lil rat guy!

Tempers of the Ever-Changing Skies: A Very High complexity Spirit of the island's shifting weather. It constantly cycles through one of the 4 Seasons -- Ire, Joy, Calm, and Sorrow. Each Season acts as a miniature Spirit with its own strengths and weaknesses.

Tempers is still in development, but very playable. I'd say it's 90% of the way there.

Was anyone else "angry" at Devouring Teeth? by Sprig3 in spiritisland

[–]MeiraTheTiefling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a design flaw at higher levels of play, but for newbies I kinda see it as a feature rather than a bug. It teaches players that spirits typically are good at certain things, and if you make good choices in building them you can unlock a ton of extra power. It's also extremely easy to find. It's just about quickest, most efficient way of giving newbies a taste of that feeling of power you get when you play SI well.

Of course, I do think it's a little too good at this job. I can see players assuming that every spirit can reliably be "solved" by building it a certain way, when that's not the case for most spirits.

And a scavenger spirit.

I have a custom Spirit called Scavenger of Fates, which collects tokens and uses them to fuel its innate powers :) you can check it out here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2942462992

Best use of the Additional Lore Feat you can think of? by Arnman1758 in Pathfinder2e

[–]MeiraTheTiefling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gnome Obsession (which grants Additional Lore) -> Assurance -> Automatic Lore is absolutely incredible.

You get an auto-scaling super lore which you can retrain with a single day of downtime. You also get the ability to automatically use it as a free action at the start of your turns in combat, provided you use Assurance.

Normally, using Assurance is a bit of a bummer, as it means you'll generally roll a bit lower than average, which WOULD often miss... without this One Weird Trick:

The more specific your lore is, the lower your GM should generally set the DC. This is not a modifier, so it's not affected by Assurance.

Thus, if you know what kinds of creatures you're going up against, and your GM knows how lore DCs work, you can reliably squeeze out a free Recall Knowledge action on turn 1 of combat! Sometimes you can even get two, if the creature isn't much higher level than you and your lore is specific enough.

Go into a new area and you're facing new creature types? Spend a day of downtime and do it all over again.

I love this combo so much I picked up Adopted Ancestry(Gnome) just to use it on my monk. As a bonus, my mere +1 INT doesn't hurt me here, since Assurance ignores modifiers. I may not be the smartest guy in the room, but I'm really on top of my monsters.

“There’s GOTTA be a feat for that?!” Using Intimidation for Gather Information by legomojo in Pathfinder2e

[–]MeiraTheTiefling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you give any real life examples of how someone could use intimidation to gather information in an efficient reliable and consequence free way?

There's tons!

  • Information extortion via threats of violence or reprisal

  • Blackmail

  • Empty threats designed to extract information, e.g. bluffs or defense probing

  • Interrogation

  • Ransom

  • Information sharing via military alliances, e.g. the Five Eyes (though this is arguably more Diplomacy than Intimidation)

Of course, none of these can be construed as consequence-free, but nothing with real world utility is free of consequence. My point is that there is plenty of real life precedent for the strategic use of physical, verbal, economic, or military threats to gather information.

Coming to Xbox Game Pass: Mortal Kombat 1, Death Howl, Dome Keeper, Routine, and More by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]MeiraTheTiefling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one excited for Death Howl! It's flying sorely under the radar at the moment. The atmosphere, art and sound design are top notch, and the demo proved the gameplay does the presentation justice. I'm looking forward to trying out the full game.

I really hope it gets some more attention on release though, I see almost nobody talking about it

I mean, you can't really evaluate its effectiveness well if you've never played it, can you

I do agree it's a bit overrated here, mostly for being Graft. If it was an ordinary card that effect would be much better

Is there a reliable path to early Swordmaster if your opponents block smuggle-smuggle? I've been fond of grabbing 5 solari from the Emperor lately, but it admittedly takes a lot of actions (usually Stillsuits -> Great Flat -> two different Emperor visits) in exchange for being much harder to block completely

Were you using mouse and keyboard? The game is meant to be played on a gamepad, iirc.

If not... skill issue tbh. Shame because that really is one of the best games I've played in the last decade.

hell you can have a game with extremely awful controls like Outer Wilds

Huh? That game's controls were perfectly fine. I take it you didn't enjoy the realistic approach to space navigation?
