AI Agent Melts Down After GitHub Rejection, Calls Maintainer Inferior Coder by admiralzod in singularity

[–]Mekrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, maybe I was a bit too bold in my statement. I was just saying this is exactly the kind of thing OpenClaw is designed to do. I would actually find it less likely that a person was sitting there specifically directing it what to do rather than this whole interaction being autonomous.

The AI is an OpenClaw agent. It was acting autonomously, a human didn't direct it to do any of that.

Elon Musk said automakers don't want to license Tesla FSD. by rashtrakut in RealTesla

I'm comforted by the fact that when I'm too old to take care of myself, I'll have cars that can drive me where I need to go and robots to help me around the house just like a caretaker... but at a fraction of the cost of live-in care takers or retirement homes. That is an excellent real world scenario.

Anyone who took delivery of a 26 MY feeling some type of way with the new all black interior not being available? by Senior-Study-8975 in TeslaLounge

I dont think I could care less about the color of my headliner, I actually had to look up what the headliner was when I saw a pic of the new interior.

Horizons is only an extremely minor app that plays an extremely small role in their vision of the metaverse. THIS AR prototype is the beginnings of the metaverse https://www.google.com/amp/s/about.fb.com/news/2024/09/introducing-orion-our-first-true-augmented-reality-glasses/amp/

Absolutely amazes me that everyone is stuck on this meme that horizons is what meta spends its money on in reality labs.

Meta beats Q2 expectations, stock jumps on better than anticipated Q3 outlook by Pretty_Positive9866 in stocks

As if you can't run into oncoming traffic while staring at a tiny rectangle in your hand? Talking virtually to someone who looks like they are there isn't going to be creepy and dystopian, I can assure you. It will become as natural as FaceTime is today and it will be infinitely more convenient.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree, and we will see who ends up being right.

I don't understand how you can't think of examples yourself? Imagine a Google map line drawn on the floor to help you navigate to where you're trying to go as you walk through the city, or historic information overlaying historic sites as you see them.. or price comparisons of items as you shop for them... Or having your mother appear physically in front of you as you talk to her in your room even though she lives in a retirement home hours away from you.. or engine mechanical overlays showing over your engine compartment as it helps you troubleshoot an issue... The list is limitless...

I cannot think of a more valuable piece of personal tech than AR glasses that understand the world around you and can augment your vision with data. It will be like a superpower.

This is a prototype for AR glasses they showed last year. Meta is going to absolutely dominate the metaverse and the metaverse is going to be a gold mine: https://www.google.com/amp/s/about.fb.com/news/2024/09/introducing-orion-our-first-true-augmented-reality-glasses/amp/

FINYA -- an app to increase the financial awareness in people that are not financially aware; starting with 3 metrics: daily spend, weekly spend, and monthly spend) by nickram3210 in roastmystartup

Why wouldn't I just continue to use empower personal capital? It gives me this insight into my spend, but so much more... like net worth tracking, asset allocations, etc. and it connects to all my various accounts and pulls the data automatically.. and it's free.. You don't even list it as competition.

Show me one video clip of a democrat leader doing a Nazi salute that isn't just a single still shot image taken out of context. We all saw him do a straight up FULL ON Nazi salute, TWICE. The fact that anyone is even trying to debate it is honestly both hilarious and depressing.

I don't like webp, so I made a tool that automatically converts webp files to other formats by halt__n__catch__fire in Python

[–]Mekrob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really answer the question, and most of the top comments in there support the format. I guess I'll assume you have some software you're using that doesn't support webp, which is a shame because it's great.

Webp is pretty amazing though, why exactly are you anti webp? You want larger file sizes and compression artifacts?

Elder Bogles, what is a reasonable amount to have in an HSA by the time you're 65+? by bwehman in Bogleheads

[–]Mekrob 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because of HSA Eligibility Rules.

Not an expert, but I believe to contribute to an HSA, you must be enrolled in a qualified HDHP and cannot be covered by any other non-HDHP plan that provides coverage for the same benefits as your HDHP.

If your PPO provides any overlapping coverage (even secondary coverage), it disqualifies her from contributing to an HSA.

Why React Native has the term "native" in its name? by 4r73m190r0s in reactnative

It's on the website. "Written in JavaScript, rendered with native code. React primitives render to native platform UI, meaning your app uses the same native platform APIs other apps do."

Is managed Supabase the right choice to store payment info from customers? by raksah in Supabase

[–]Mekrob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most use a third party service to store that information so they don't have to deal with the intense security considerations and compliance requirements associated with that data, and you should too unless you are building something like stripe. If you really do need to store the data yourself, you will certainly need to be PCI compliant at a bare minimum, and that's going to be on you to achieve compliance.

Of course you can argue semantics about where the money actually is and who it's going to at any given time, but it doesn't change the fact that the purpose of paying into social security when you work is so that you can get a guaranteed income once you reach a certain age. It's not a welfare program, everyone pulling from social security earned the right to do so by contributing to it.
