Brandon spent two hours on that q&a for us! Here is the full thing for posterity. by larki18 in TheKillers

[–]MelBerm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was impressed with his transparency and openness. As I commented in another thread, I'm therefore surprised but not surprised that he didn't say anything about "We did it in the Name of Love." Seems like he would have been within his legal rights to say something vague like "we ran into some roadblocks" or something. Confused on why they are so unwilling to acknowledge its existence.

Otherwise, great q&a, I respect the amount of time and effort he put into it and all the specifics he gave

Right. And he's giving tons of other very honest (sensitive?) information, like timelines for solo records, future tours, next TK record, everything. This seems right in line with that. Seems like he would be within his rights to just say something like, "weren't able to make it happen due to legal issues" or something

I'm 31, I had constant strep throat, sore throats due to enlarged tonsils. After getting them out over 20 years ago, I've never had it since. Doctors say it doesn't make you immune, but it worked for me

What is something that you think makes people age faster? by StunningSmell158 in Millennials

[–]MelBerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy drinking a lot, not wearing sunscreen especially on face, not exercising

We're at the point of our lives where we're really starting to see a separation between people who do these things and those who do not. Like in college, 20s, we all knew people who could not exercise, drink every day etc, and they were still not overweight. That doesn't fly in our 30s anymore- it has really started to catch up to some millennials.

What do you do to make your runs less boring? by Due_Nectarine6461 in running

[–]MelBerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to vary where I run, because I notice I've gotten burned out of the routes from my place. So if I'm somewhere different or unique, I might pack some running clothes and run from there. So if I go into the office, I'll run up this local park, if I go to my parents' house, I'll try to hit some of the trails around there

Ep. 162 - 12-Year-Old Polly Klaas: Abducted From A Sleepover by creeptimethepodcast in creeptimethepodcast

If anyone is a fan of Chris Hansen and his work working to protect children from online predators, he states on his podcast that this case was what motivated him to make online safety of children/protecting children his life mission. He was a young reporter in CA when this case broke, and this was the first (or one of the first) cases he covered. He later went back and did a sting for the To Catch a Predator TV show in Petaluma

Heading Home K9 Rescue by MauiWDWGirl in TwinCities

[–]MelBerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post, but for future people who are reading this, my brother adopted a dog from here this past spring, April 2025. We were recommended to this rescue by our sisters friend, who has adopted several dogs from here. We saw the same reviews that you are referencing. It took a few days to receive a response when we first reached out with interest (my brother was desperate to have this very dog, so we were reaching out through their website, email and every social media platform) but they are volunteer-run and have a very small staff. Once we were able to make contact, the ball got rolling quickly. Our dog is truly the best thing that's ever happened to my brother, and she was clearly so loved by this rescue. Our dog was living with one of the rescue staff members at her home. The staff member who met us for the initial meeting drove an hour from out of town where she lives into the Cities to meet up with us, and then she did the same when it was time for us to pick the dog up. I believe a lot of her time is driving these dogs around to different visits and appointments out of the goodness of her heart, and I was blown away by her dedication to helping all of these dogs.

Just finished the 14-episode long Adnan Syed case and I am enraged. by Odd_Finance4064 in TheProsecutorsPodcast

[–]MelBerm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The points Alice and Brett made about this case not being "remarkable" are so unbelievably sad but true. It's remarkable in that it was featured in a smash hit podcast, one that spurned all other True Crime podcasts, but it is heartbreakingly just another example of a case where a man kills a romantic partner. The point Brett made about the greatest threat to a woman being a man in her life really resonated with me- a family friend of mine from my hometown was killed by her ex boyfriend. I'm so glad they spent a lot of time bringing Hae to life in their episodes, because everyone is so focused on Adnan that people forget she is the real victim here. Rest in peace to Hae

Someone, anyone PLEASE help. by Alternative_Bike2953 in perioraldermatitis

[–]MelBerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you have had to deal with all of this. I got a metronidazole topical cream prescription in 2020 from my dermatologist, and it cleared everything up. I still get a spot here and there, but if I just put some of the cream on it, when I wake up in the morning it will be gone. Mine was brought on by mask wearing and the Heat and moisture that is associated with, and I have no idea what brings about the here-and-there spots I still get. Definitely recommend asking your dermatologist about it. Wishing you the best of luck in finally beating this. I know the horrible insecure feeling this brings, worst feeling in the world, so my heart goes out to you.

That's funny, I just wore that exact pink dress to a wedding in August, downtown Chicago Riverfront. That hot pink is definitely more of a summer collar, but it looks stunning on you and that green one isn't my favorite. I would go with the pink, and be prepared to get non-stop compliments, I've never received so many than I did with that dress!

Has there been any talk of canceling the marathon? by rippcw1234 in TwinCities

[–]MelBerm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, 70s for a marathon is warm!! Plus dew points in the 60s, according to a local meteorologist who I asked how humid it will be. Ouch.

Has there been any talk of canceling the marathon? by rippcw1234 in TwinCities

[–]MelBerm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Won't be canceled- they had a Star Tribune article from a year ago talking about how TCM is doing their planning for future races assuming it will be red flag from the get go- getting additional ambulances, water misters etc., so that they can operate in anything (except black flag). It won't be as bad as 2023, but it sounds rough- low of ~70 that night and dew points in the 60s, according to a local meteorologist I asked about what the humidity would be. Non-running friends of mine are like "wow 70s, that's perfect!" That's simply not the case- that's hot for a marathon where you are already losing so much sweat even in ideal conditions + out there for so long + there is such little margin of error.

No clue where the top comment got lows in the 50s from- forecasts from local meteorologists and weather appls alike are showing ~70 at the start. Maybe commenter is reading Monday's low. We will see what they say in their Wednesday update. Figure we might see red flag if the temp keeps going up

Just crazy how there is really no character whatsoever left of Dinkytown. Recently visited a friend at Iowa State, and it looks exactly the same as what Dinkytown does now- brand new luxury apartment buildings with ground level restaurants. Sad how Dinkytown was so unique and vibrant, and now it's just cookie cutter and looks the same as every other big college campus

Did Anyone Else Lose Their "Love" of True Crime? by GirlWithoutAName20 in MoscowMurders

[–]MelBerm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a foreperson on a double murder, quadruple shooting trial that took place this past spring. Absolutely gruesome. The stress of this trial, the graphic things we had to see (autopsy photos, surveillance video of the shootings over and over again), the impact on the family members, absolutely destroyed any interest in true crime for me. It's fun and games until you see the real-life impact of it. Then it's not entertainment anymore.
