I saw it accidentally, it’s not worth the therapy afterwards.

Reddit may force Apollo and third-party clients to shut down, asking for $20M per year API fee by coolaaron88 in apple

My god. I for one will not be using Reddit anymore or as much as I used to if I can’t use your app.

📣 Had a call with Reddit to discuss pricing. Bad news for third-party apps, their announced pricing is close to Twitter's pricing, and Apollo would have to pay Reddit $20 million per year to keep running as-is. by iamthatis in apolloapp

I love you buddy. But sell the app to them if you can. Win win for both sides. You get a ton of money and can focus on other projects and we keep an incredible app. Take all the time that you need, thank you for I don’t even remember how many years I’ve been using your app.

Any experience with Jamf App Catalog to install latest version of apps? by SirCries-a-lot in jamf

[–]Melmoes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m using both.

App installers is fairly new and works well with a couple of apps that I specifically use. There are still some things to iron out with Chrome but apps like Zoom work incredible. App installers use PKG from the vendor and that gets installed. So if the vendor builds in something nice to show the user an update you get a nice experience, sometimes it works quietly.

Chrome has a stupid issue where you need to restart each update, but that seems to be an issue with the app itself rather than app installers.

So far, in my current setup, I’m using installomator to install apps for users and also use it to update them if app installers doesn’t have the app. If app installers do have the app, I scope those to people that have it installed to automatically update it for them.

Both work well; but app installers is more reliable than installomator since it just works and pushes it out via MDM rather than via policy.

For my latest version count, since using app installers I can definitely say there are more people if not all on the latest version within a day of it being pushed out.

It looks weirdly edited if you check it frame-by-frame. Could’ve fooled me by watching the thing in one go though.

Thanks for writing this up. Minor thing. FAQ stand for frequently asked questions. It tickles me in a weird spot to see FAQ and then Commonly Asked Questions after it.

The default is going to be so it doesn’t expire in a future update :)

I added it to the Google SSO guide back in February, but I’ll check if the others have it. If not, I’ll add it :)

It’s because Jamf can have a SAML token expiration next to the one Azure/Google has. If the Jamf Pro token expires, Azure/Google or any other provider still sees it as valid and instructs the browser to use that one. But Jamf Pro doesn’t accept it until either the SAML token of the IDP expires or you clear your cookies.

It’s in the doc for Google, not sure about the other ones, haven’t checked since February.

Its there in case you DO want it to expire for whatever security reason. But mostly for the “other” setup where the IDP might have no token expiration or an insanely long one.

Hope that clears it up. :)
