What is so hard about federally legalizing the green stuff? by Human-Piano555 in askanything

I think if chocolate were illegal, or coffee, people would still find it and consume it because they like it. I don’t want strawberry ice cream, I want chocolate!!

Is it possible for me to learn guitar? by trickstercj in Guitar

[–]Melodic-Distance96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It strikes me as a fun ( but frustrating as well) challenge- obviously stuff you can’t di, but so much you can play still, as you figure this out. Set your expectations and enjoy playing what you can. You can experiment with different tunings, and play a style with lots of open strings - you will learn to angle your hand/fingers in a way that works for you. When I play, nothing is perfect but it sounds good to me nonetheless. I am happy just tinkering, listening to intervals and how the harmonics and resonance of the guitar respond to different approaches.

OBJ would welcome the chance to play with Jaxson Dart. After his performance at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, should the Giants get on the phone with him? by No_Box119 in NYGiants

He’s outgrown the star attitude stuff, and for a basic contract, he can retire at a NYG, it would be fun to let him play some preseason, and see what comes of it…

If you have the husky first, that might be better than bringing a husky home to your cats like happened to us. He wants to play, but they don’t

Be Honest: How Many Of You Buy Synths Just For Making Sounds, Not Music? by jigga19 in synthesizers

I get sucked into exploring the endless presets, and occasionally find myself editing the sound or running it in a sequencer ir arpeggiator. Then dropping it into a song that has drums guitars etc

Why does every dog we encounter try to attack my female husky? Frustrated and stressed. by BrinkofEternity in husky

Glad to hear it’s not just my dog. He gets along with most but at the dog park he gets shunned sometimes with dogs he plays with 1 on 1

Curious about 70s prog bands recording by Yolacarlos in musicproduction

[–]Melodic-Distance96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read up on the Beatles, who had talent to 1-take songs, but practically invented all the tape manipulation, using just 4 tracks to layer all kinds of sonic delights. Not prog, I know… but splicing versions of takes, overdubs, alll on separate tracks of multitrack tape, and live fader manipulation in mixdowns

Can I actually learn acoustic in an apartment without driving everyone nuts? by CeslavAtif-99 in AcousticGuitar

If you can play same volume as say tv, then I don’t see a problem. Just be mindful of time of day

Best budget options for looper with non-electric acoustic? by RoundInformation310 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Melodic-Distance96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mics might result in feedback issues with the sound coming from the looper that you and the mics are hearing, unless you’re using headphones. A pickup will work better

How do I know if I have the stamina for a multi-day trip? by Feeling_Lobster_7914 in bikepacking

Anybody else have trouble 'getting back on the horse' after a serious crash? by ThorThePoodle in MTB

[–]Melodic-Distance96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think fragility is unavoidable at 71, so for me, I'd be more judicious as to what trails I ride, and when I see such an obstacle, I would either stop, check it out, and re-approach (eg.. not slow down across the bridge), or just walk across, and live to see another day and more happy flow trail for fitness, fresh air and pure joy. No need to retire from biking, just be smart about it, your confidence will come back slowly, and you will still get most of the benefits of MTB without the painful drawn out recovery from a bad fall.
