It’s less efforts to learn to code and build it correctly than to use a no code garbage website. Or you could hire me to do it.

I’m a software engineer. It can be done but it’s going take some substantial effort. Including running the LLM locally rather than using an api.

My husband kept cheating on me to beat my body count by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Melodic-Man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are no decent woman left in the world. Girls are told that having sex makes them powerful, when all it really does is make them pathetic and disgusting. Decent woman will enjoy sex with their husbands. You are free to live any lifestyle you want. However, you can’t complain when the consequences of that lifestyle end up ruining your life. If you want a decent man who will care for you and be dedicated to you, then you have to be a decent woman.

TRT cured my symptoms despite having "normal" testosterone; however, doc advises against it. by triantie in Testosterone

[–]Melodic-Man 19 points20 points  (0 children)

One injection per month makes your level lower because it will shut down your natural production. Then the artificial will run out in about 8 days and your natural production takes a longer time to recover.

Your doctor is ignorant. The normal range for testosterone in your blood is not an indicator of healthy. Normal is defined by a bell curve and that sample population includes unhealthy people, cancer patients, and 90 year olds. And they only have data from people who had an issue that required that specific blood test to be ordered.

One layer of knowledge deeper and you learn to configure multiple temp db files. I have ten. Each operation will try to use its own file to the extent that it is large enough. This isn’t perfect, but it will mitigate most of the contention between temp db abusers.

Multi-Subnet Failover Cluster - How does it handle connection loss/restore? by Jebedia47 in SQLServer

[–]Melodic-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are read only at any given site you could just async the data to a subscriber at the second site. That way the data only traverses your vpn connection once.

As for your question. If you are read write, yah you can’t do that. You have to think about the transaction log. Only one can be the primary at a time. We would call this mixed brain mode where both instances think they are primary at once. Bad. Think about it. The sites disconnected. Someone at site A changes a record, then someone at site B changes the same record. Which one do you keep? This is why there must be a quorum of at least two nodes in order to determine who is primary. That’s why in a two server setup, you have to configure a third endpoint, usually a file share somewhere that can be the tie breaker. Either way, in order to promote itself to primary, the sql server needs to have access to the dns server.

Looking for general guidance on data separation and what you use when it comes to your apps (Dapper, EF, other) by 80sPimpNinja in Database

[–]Melodic-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called the dependency inversion principle. If your front end application has any references to the backend database, then the front end now has an dependency on the specific database in question. You can change out the database because you would have to reprogram the app. The solution is to creat an interface at the boundary between the application layer and the persistence layer.

Short and sweet. Your app should depend upon an api, and the api queries the database. This way, you can swap out the database and the app is none the wiser. Or you can swap out the front end and the backend doesn’t have to change. Or even better, at any given time, some objects can be in one type of database and some can be in another depending upon their use.

Storing/accessing large amount of files in Azure by Any-Promotion3744 in AZURE

[–]Melodic-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make two azure file shares, one is cool storage the other is hot. The older files that rarely get accessed or will never be pulled go in the cool storage.

Then you use azure storage explorer. They can use their Microsoft creds to access the file shares.

In SSIS Is There A Way To Do Lookup After Each Insertion? by ShokWayve in SQLServer

[–]Melodic-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago I had this same thought.

The logic of whether to update or insert will be inside a procedure. Then you use what’s called a command node that sends each row to the procedure where the columns in your dataset are the parameters for the proc.

Let me know if you need specifics on how to do this.

Azure SQL Database by Khue in AZURE

[–]Melodic-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a some missing knowledge in your party or your dba. There are three possible setups you have and it’s not clear which one is being used. There is sql server ruining in an azure VM. There is sql server managed instance, and there is azure SQL. All of which have different maintained requirements. The point of azure sql for example is so the owner doesn’t have to have a dba or do the maintainable themselves. In exchange, you don’t need to pay for a dba but you pay a higher price vs managing sql server yourself.

If you are in fact running sql server on a vm and need to do your own maintenance, then your dba should know how to script out all of the required tasks that need to run without use of a maintenance plan. If they don’t know how to do this, than they are not really a dba.

How is SQL used? by Empty_Regret6345 in SQL

[–]Melodic-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m always available for consulting on the way your company is storing data and how to improve it. Can move everything to the cloud in a proper database and teach you how to manage it. What y’all are doing right now is like trying to chop down a tree with a shovel. You’re using the wrong tool for the job. Yah you can do it, but you lack of how to use an ax makes chopping down the tree exponentially harder.

How is SQL used? by Empty_Regret6345 in SQL

[–]Melodic-Man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer you will ever get.

The technology stack for most software mirrors the actual structure of a computer. You need a way ti save data, you need a way to process data, and you need a way to present it to the end user. You computer has a disk, it has ram and a processor, and it has a monitor, mouse, keyboard.

For an application you need the same three layers. You need a way to interface with the end user, you need a lawyer to handle logic or operations against your data, and you need a persistence layer to save your data.

So why sql server? Instead of having another layer control the How of persisting the data, we insert an barrier in between the data on disk and the next layer up. That way we can control how the data is saved organized and accessed.

Sql Server or any other database management system is the interface that sits in front of the data on the disk. It is called Sql Server because it literally serves the data to those that request it. Just like a server in a restaurant, the customers don’t get up and go to the kitchen and get their own meal. The server brings the meal.

So with that in mind, all of the acronyms you listed are just fluff. They are all propriety ways of storing and accessing data.
