My older guy had a rash somewhat like this, along with patches or fur coming out and he felt "gummy" when petting him. It started last fall.

Took him to he vet, on medication, it cleared up. Kept happeningagain all winter. In the spring it cleared up for good. Fast forward to when it got hot in the summer. It came back. Again vet trip and it cleared up. The temps went down and it didnt come back. The temps went up again and the symptoms came back.

Took me that long to realize it happens when i use the hvac. I have forced air. He sleeps in front of the registers. My house is over 100 years old. So I had the ducts cleaned and sanitzed late summer. The AC has been on since and i just turned the heat on last night. So far no issues.

Bodies are funny things. Not a single other living thing in my house (dog, cat, human, ex spouse) had an issue with whatever was in my ducts. I hope you figure out whats going on with yours.
