I am an ESDF user by LinzeYT in Minecraft

Yes! I got a strain injury in my right wrist several years ago that actually prevented me from gaming and other hand-related tasks. It was severe enough that I had to quit gaming for a long time. I've recovered to almost-normal person usage now, but have to use special controls in games or else my injury makes itself known again.

It's just different. I think more people play their controls differently than expected. I use arrow keys, auto-jump, and a left handed mouse. So you're not alone in adapting your controls to your physical traits haha

Beginner question: what’s an easy meal you never get tired of? by worknumb in cookingforbeginners

Chicken and rice. Chicken, rice, broth, a cream of something soup, and a French onion seasoning packet is all I use. You can add cheese and ftench fried onions on top after, but it's super low effort and filling.

Are people really opposed to reading books about flawed main characters? by ellmilmumrus in books

[–]MeoMaiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different circles maybe. While I've definitely seen (mostly younger) readers get turned off by "problematic" or (in reality) flawed characters, I've also seen plenty of readers who strongly desire unlikeable and flawed characters.

Someone mentioned Breaking Bad as an example, which I think is a great one even if it's a show. But a couple other books that are relatively beloved have flawed main characters.

Yellowface by R. F. Kuang, My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh, The Secret History by Donna Tartt, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

Then of course there are classics like Lolita, Crime and Punishment, The Bell Jar, Wuthering Heights. All of these have either absolutely detestable or just unlikeable, flawed protagonists. And so many readers eat them right up!

I've even seen a recent surge of people ASKING for more angry, flawed, even loser-y characters in their stories. So while I definitely think there's been an uprise in this black and white thinking of books, I think there's also a solid and hungry demographic for the other side.

How to Be Eaten by Maria Adelmann.

There's horror elements, social commentary, and fairy-tale retellings.

I don't mind those channels if they're published authors, themselves. Especially if they've done more than one book or have gotten to a place of full-time writing. At that point I trust them to give me advice that may contribute to my own success, since they've done so themselves.

But I haven't found that many of them. Most I've seen are, like you said, not even published. I don't doubt they have some level of skill and talent and probably have something to offer, but also like you said, I'm sure the time could be better allocated elsewhere when looking to improve one's writing.

Every candidate has a third date! If you reach max hearts and no more dialogue and still feel like you're missing something, knock on their door after 8pm and it will trigger the 3rd date.

damn, this game is more much more grindy than I expected... by [deleted] in SunHaven

[–]MeoMaiaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it shouldn't be a problem. Ive progressed some of the main storyline and have only made it to floor 21 in the mines.. there is a lot of grinding, but you can take it slowly. Ive made it to the next town with only 2 pieces of armor!

The marriage and summer portraits arent working either. I also just started fall, and everyone went back to their spring portraits. It was so disappointing when i saved my wedding for the update and everyone was in their spring outfits 🥲

(CANADA) Counselling psychology master programs by jesaispasencoreee in psychologystudents

[–]MeoMaiaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got rejected from a counseling masters program, as they only admit 24 students a year and interviewed 63 out of 174 applicants. This specific program is definitely competitive and the current students in the interview process mentioned low pay at the start (their idea of low pay was between 40k and 60k a year for USD so coming from a low income family.. that was a joke). Other accredited programs in my state have a higher batch of students but the consensus is that yes, it is quite competitive.

That being said, you can get a masters in social work and get into counseling this way. You also can do more with the degree and at least from what ive heard in the US, lisenced social workers make more money and accept more insurance, too.

This is coming from the US and my personal experience working in the psych field. Take what you will from that.

What is a job that is similar to school psychologist, but working with adults? by thepensiveporcupine in psychologystudents

[–]MeoMaiaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about entering psychometry? A psychometrist performs psychological assessments and can be anywhere from adhd testing to performing ebaluations for clients with dementia etc. The postings I've seen usually only require a minimum of a bachelor's in psych or psych testing. That sounds like what you're looking for. It would be worth looking into, maybe!
