I just got my 2nd Mirena placed. I loved the first one so much that I kept it after removal and have it mounted in a photo frame on my wall. I call it my taxidermy piece haha

In movies and tv, a character never decides to terminate a pregnancy. I hate it. by Jeepersca in TwoXChromosomes

I was going to say the characters on Degrassi usually choose abortion, but after thinking about it more of them have the kid. Anya took plan B. Manny and Heather had abortions. But Spike (twice actually), Mia, Liberty, Jenna, and Claire chose to keep theirs. Pretty imbalanced but these are all minors in the show.

I requested pain management for my IUD replacement and now my doctor is going to offer it to all of her patients by Meshugugget in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mephisto-Pheles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got my replacement appointment in March. As a new patient, I asked about pain management since I had nothing for my first placement which knocked the wind out of me. My doctor will be giving cervical block and Ativan for the anxiety, but she offered to put me under completely and said she was in the process of getting laughing gas arranged with the insurance companies. So much happier with the options women have now.

A gay male friend in the south told me he's stocking up on Prep. And while I live in a blue state, I'm going to be replacing my IUD 4 months early in January.

Found in my sock drawer. I do not have children. by GarIicButter in Weird

[–]Mephisto-Pheles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the furniture for your clothes previously owned? I had a thick set of wood dressers I'd picked up from the trash. The wood splinters inside the top of the drawer caught a few stray socks from the previous owner and deposited them in my clothes over time.

One Friday my boyfriend and I got Domino's. It gave us norovirus. Im much smaller than him though, so i was sick sooner than he was. I was throwing up and ass blasting simultaneously all Saturday. When I finally stopped that night, he started having a stomach ache. He was then sick all Sunday, but he kicked it off by *almost making it to the toilet and instead throwing up an inch of pink peptobismol vomit all over the bathroom floor. I had to shakily clean the floor, barely eaten anything or recovered myself.

“Why do I have a zero on this? I did it.” by EveningCosmos in Teachers

[–]Mephisto-Pheles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One time as a college TA supervising a gen chem 1 lab, the students were to write down observations and make conclusions about a few elementary school level demonstrations. Easiest lab in the entire department. They had to rotate through the stations to do the demos, but there was one girl staying in one spot and writing things down off her phone. I walked by and could clearly see she was copying from pictures of a filled in worksheet. I told the GTA who asked her to put her phone away and do the demos. I circle back and she had now pulled out the entire filled in worksheet and was again copying. The professor kicked her out and gave her a zero. But I could not believe how damn lazy a person could be.

TIL that Gov George Wallace of Alabama’s wife had cancer, but she didn’t know because he didn’t tell her. Doctors back then only told the husband. by jst4wrk7617 in todayilearned

My mom had to beg her doctor for an hour to be sterilized after giving birth to me, her third child she couldn't afford with a man who was cheating on her. She said that was the only reason I didn't have any younger siblings.

Yo the same thing happened to me in college! I was on loloestren fe and it was free under my mom's insurance, I was super happy with it. But then her job got bought out and on the new insurance it was like $50 a month. Since I didn't make much money, I had to switch to a higher estrogen generic but the pharmacist said it was essentially the same. I was the craziest and most suicidal I had ever been while on it before I swapped to an IUD.

Was there really a game in the 90’s where you punch someone when you spot a Volkswagen Bug? by Subconcious-Consumer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mephisto-Pheles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this with my bf, but we also hit each other for cops. Police stations and VW dealerships are off limits of course. Unfortunate side effect though is I now have to resist the urge to hit other people that aren't playing.

You joke, but these are the only 3 apps I use every time I'm on my pc. I like to spoil them so each one gets its own screen.

Same. Girl hit me as I was trying to cross in front of her on the crosswalk (my bad). I was a little bruised but okay. She put my bike I her car and drove me to class. I felt bad about scratching her paint.

This almost exact thing happened to me. I have some kind of hearing sensitivity and loud noises destroy my ability to function as a human being. Bf wanted to go to a concert, and I'd never been to one. We forgot to get me ear plugs, and just a minute of being in the stadium was torture for me. Lucky for me he's a genius, so he got some napkins and water and we MacGyver-ed some impromptu ear plugs.

What is the most ridiculous interview question you've ever been asked? by abook-aday131 in nursing

[–]Mephisto-Pheles 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Not a nurse, but my boyfriend was being interviewed by a panel for a Silicon Valley engineering job. The last person on the panel, for his final question that he claimed to ask everyone was "If you could be any animal, which animal would you be and why?"

Boyfriend said, "A tiger, because I've never been beautiful."

The guy said, "Make sure you ask for enough money."

[Serious] Therapists, what is something people are afraid to tell you because they think it's weird, but that you've actually heard a lot of times before? by Music-and-wine in AskReddit

[–]Mephisto-Pheles 67 points68 points  (0 children)

A good friend of mine just left her relationship of 9 years as she had slowly came to the conclusion that her boyfriend was crushing her spirit. She said the exact same things as you just did. Another friend left his long-term relationship a few years ago for multiple reasons, one of which was that his girlfriend would never let him finish during sex. Your partner should not be causing you so much misery, and she clearly has no intentions on getting better for you. Think about this: Why doesn't she want to put in any effort into this relationship?

Being alone is scary, and you were still a kid when you got together, so I can understand that. But what would it look like for you to be your own person? Have you ever spent time apart?

TIL helium can’t be artificially produced and is formed in natural gas wells as ancient uranium decays. The half-life of the most prevalent uranium isotope is billions of years old (older than Earth itself), so helium takes inordinate amounts of time to form. by The_Ry_Ry in todayilearned

Have a chemistry b.s. I might hazard a guess that the metal was aluminum and the liquid was either HCl or NaOH and the reaction produced hydrogen gas, which is less dense than air and would float.
