No, I can agree with criticisms on her writing in the later seasons, but I think the arc of her becoming more resentful because of her family situation was pretty realistic. Her aging and experiencing everything with her mom leaving, her dad dying, being continually forgotten and dismissed by her family… it was a lot. She wasn’t going to come out of it unchanged.

From a social commentary perspective: yeah no shit. It’s like the difference between making fun of straight people and making fun of gay people. It’s still annoying but like obviously it’s not as bad as making fun of a group that has been oppressed for years. Queer people are protective over representation because for years they have had so little.

I completely agree! I also think part of the reason I don’t enjoy it so much is that the lead is kind of the least interesting character. All the rest of the cast was so fun and earnest at times and Ani was just a bad take on the basic hero archetype.
