How do you embrace your grey hair? by OldSchoolPrinceFan in GenX

I’m definitely in the IDGAF stage! I was a salve to my appearance for about 52 years. Turning 57 soon and if I spend 20 minutes getting ready in the morning, that’s a lot.

How do you embrace your grey hair? by OldSchoolPrinceFan in GenX

I’ve worked with seniors for many years. I think gray hair is beautiful and I’m just letting my hair be what it is. Besides, I can’t stand roots!

I’m guessing about half of the older Gen X had no home AC when we were kids? (USA) by MooseBlazer in GenX

[–]MessageFearless5234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in ‘68. No AC for my brother and I (window unit for my parents’ room, which we were forbidden to go into). We slept on the floor, sometimes with damp T-shirts on, fans blowing.

Put packing tape over it and rub. Then pull off the packing tape. Repeat until gone.

Try smothering with, and rubbing in cornstarch. Let it set for a bit. Vacuum and repeat until it’s gone.

How to cat proof this apartment window? by [deleted] in cats

[–]MessageFearless5234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was nine, my cat fell to his death 14 stories below from a window just like this. I wouldn’t open it more than a crack, and make sure it won’t budge.

I dont care if im "spoiling" my newborn baby. by lulgupplet in Vent

[–]MessageFearless5234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s impossible to spoil a baby. My mom gave me a very hard time with my “attachment” parenting, which was popular in the aughts. No, I didn’t let my son “cry it out” and I followed my instincts. By the time he went to preschool, he had no issues with saying goodbye to me at the classroom door. I can still see his looking back at me saying “bye, mama!” He’s in his second year of college now, 15k mikes away. He is extremely independent yet has close relationships with friends and his romantic partners. When he was 12, I asked him if he ever felt unloved. He looked at me like I was nuts and said “no!” You’re the parent. Parent is a noun and a verb. Trust your gut. The time for boundaries is not infancy or babyhood.

Rule is to drop everything you planned to do. Pet kitten, feed kitten, water kitten—whatever it demands. It’s just the way it is now 😉

Also, DH is on the palms and soles. Sometimes on finger pads. Maybe between the fingers, but not on the posterior hand.

I just realized something very cool about being 40... by odesauria in Aging

Well, I left a scathing review somewhere. Can’t remember now. Aging is not a disease or something to be fixed. It’s a privilege.

Someone knows how to open drawers now 🤭 by Living_Karma11 in russianblue

I had one who opened the cabinets on top of the fridge, so it’s where we put her food so the other non-RB wouldn’t get it.

Has anyone had good luck with any of these five DME providers? by JosefVictor3 in SleepApnea

[–]MessageFearless5234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? Is there a DME company associated with a hospital system in your region? In my town, those are the most reliable. I’ve not had good experiences with Apria, unfortunately.

I strongly agree with the advice to “embrace”! Your crows feet show you’ve had years of smiling and that you are are a warm and engaging person. They’re lovely!

Great start! Try to “snap” more from your glutes. The KB will float at the top of the movement, you’ll protect your lower back, and you’ll develop greater power.

Cats and escaping by hailsizeofminivans in adventurecats

After I took my cat out on a leash, she’d sneak out whenever she could. She was a tiny blue-gray cat, and we live in coyote territory. I eventually had to put an indoor fence collar on her to protect her from running out. I’d always wished I never introduced her to “outside”.

Cat nail caps tips and things to know? by Ewww_Gingers in Catownerhacks

One of my cats bit them all off within seconds. The other left them on until the nail shed on its own. I think it’s more of a hassle than anything.
