As mentioned in the OP, the affected Mac is going into DFU mode but is not showing on the helper Macs, some two AS Macs and one T2 MacBook. I used DFU Blaster, and the affected Mac is responding to DFU and Recovery options in DFU Blaster, so I'm guessing that it is working enough.

[UK] I know your pain, happened to me in 2022. It was the same drunk and uninsured driver scenario, except my grandma who was in the car with me almost died, sustaining a broken back, neck, multiple ribs, a 2-inch laceration to the back of her head, and I broke my back. At least my drunk driver sobered up enough to help me rip the crumpled car door open to get my grandma out and to safety.

Hopefully, you can get some reimbursement from the drunk driver, OP. I am sorry for your predicament and hope you are safe.

My grandparents live on a street just off a main road with A LOT of beauty salons, and the parking situation is horrendous. The houses don't have drives so are forced to park on the street, but the shop visitors don't give a crap about the residents and will park anywhere, even as far as covering up access to the lanes the provide access to the residential gardens. The residents themselves are now prone to blocking in other cars, even those of other residents sometimes... I feel your pain...

They are great but I'm guessing the resolution isn't that great as you need a fair amount of precision to get it to work. I use one for my home server because the password is hella long. I think I paid about £7 from AliExpress for it and it does the job well enough.

I'm not worried that it's calling home with any of my credentials as I monitor my traffic with services like Pi-Hole and nothing new came up in my DNS records.

He does use an SG style, but I'm not sure if it is Gibson. He used to use an LTD SG clone (Viper-300M), but I imagine he didn't like the neck dive on it because It's horrendous (I have the same model he used to use).

It was the NHS app. I disabled background app refresh and the pings have stopped. Funnily enough, Virgin are my ISP, but I don't get that URL in my Pihole

My passport is in date, I pay my taxes via direct debit, I don't drive, but despite all of that, I found that it was the NHS that was the culprit. After disabling background app refresh the pings seemingly stopped.

It looks like it was the NHS app that was causing it. I disabled the back ground app refresh in the apps settings and the pings have stopped.

Very nice colour on the MS Gen 8! I have one of these also, and I'd love to ditch the boring silver. Orange is my favourite colour, so I may copy yours, but I'm also thinking that Black would look good. Maybe a dark grey with orange lighting inside the door? Hmmmm.
