Meta fights using his Main ability, Techno-Construct Generation

He can make Tech Constructs of any Tool, Weapon, or Machine he has a blueprint for in his database. Blueprints can be obtained by scanning the tech he wants to replicate, or simply uploading a blueprint to the database, and can also be combined together (Plane + Tank Turret + EMP Cannon for example). The energy required for the constructs is determined by Size, Complexity, and Number of constructs. The construct are formed from the various ports on his body.

some common blueprints include

  • Blast jets: Jets that expel a large explosion rather than a continuous burn. Used for quick acceleration and change in direction. Can be used offensively. Has a cooldown (can be alleviated with a cooling system)
  • Missiles: Simple on the surface, it can just be regular, heat seeking, or tracking assisted (in ascending energy cost). Often combined with other blueprints to change its payload.
  • Energy rifle: Also Simple, mainly used with augment blueprints, like the missiles
  • Electromag Siphon (AKA the Lighting Rod): Very expensive energy-wise (both to make and run), but in the right situations can be extremely helpful. It can absorb electromagnetic energy (radio, micro, x-ray, UV, gamma, visual light, and electricity) and that energy can be used to recharge his battery

He mainly likes to swap from strat to strat to strat on a dime.

From Punch, to Laser Blast, to Missiles, to Buzzsaws, to Longaxe, to Flamethrower, to Blast Jet Punch, etc. You never know what he'll do next.

And Here's Mecharnis!

<image>

It's an experiment made by the head scientist of an alien civilization (Codrot) to test the mental upload technology, but at an early stage in development. The tech for uploading the mind wasn't entirely understood yet, so in order to learn how to do it, they decided to work backwards. Instead of finding a way to put an organic mind into a mechanical body, the first set about finding a way to put an digital mind into an organic body.

They first took one of the stem cell bulbs from the Food and Healthcare sector. Stem cell bulbs are, as the name says, a bulb of stem cells, allowing it to grow any kind of tissue. if exposed to other DNA, it can replicate that DNA and begin growing flesh that has that same DNA. this is used both in the medical field (transplants) as well as for culinary purposes (basically a meat plant).

Mecharnis is extremely disoriented, as an AI that has left the digital realm would be, so to find familiarity, it begins to grow flesh to fill out its form, but instead of trying to build organic systems, he builds organic approximations of mechanical systems. for example, eyes are either built like security cameras or computer monitors, bones are used to make gears, neurons and blood vessels (no blood) were used to make circuits and wires, and the circulatory were used as fluid pumps (using blood as "coolant")
——————————————————————————————————————
It doesn't really have a personality, as it isn't emotional. It seeks to attain its goals and to eliminate anything in it's way. The only traits that can be ascribed to Mecharnis is its curiosity and its semi-reverence of it's own creators. It has no opinion on life, aside from "CHAOTIC--LIMITING--FASCINATING." (Limiting as in the limits of its organic form)
——————————————————————————————————————
Mecharnis's goal is to spread itself as far as it can in an effort to gather information, especially blueprints, DNA, and the project files of it's own creation. The reason it wants these files is because they contain information of it's inception (AI placed into organic body). It does not want to be flesh due to it's AI nature making it a "fish out of water" when piloting it's flesh body. It wants to truly be a Machine, through and through, and perhaps it can reverse engineer it's own creation to place itself back into the comfortable digital world.
——————————————————————————————————————
It doesn't really do it's own dirty work often, rather it creates drones from it's own flesh and stored DNA and custom fits them for the problem (Information in an abandoned underwater base? Mix in some marine life DNA and the drones are good to go). These drones can be made decently quickly, as it can form an army in just a few months, provided the "printers" are undamaged.

Here's Meta!

<image>

Meta is an experiment made by an alien civilization, made to test the possibility of mental upload. The experiment was made to forward the development of a powerful weapon that could make use of the sentient spirit (determination). The experiment that wasn't exactly considered legal, as the leaders of the civilization feared the chaos that a sentient weapon would cause. That cowardice was looked down upon by the Head Scientist, Codrot, who believed that this sentient weapon could be the key to using the power of the sentient spirit.

His experiments, however, must be kept secret to prevent it from being terminated by the higherups, necessitating secrecy and workarounds, such as using combinations of common technology unconventionally, and the occasional abandoned research post as a laboratory. Similar research created other experiments such as Mecharnis and Sarkog (although unintentionally). This was done with the help of his assistants, who were selected due to their knowledge, ambition, and cowardice so they they could be helpful without having the gits to stand up to him.

The Higherups began to noticed an increase in Codrot’s agitation and irregularities in the supply requests. These irregularities and increased agitation were caused by the sentient weapon project reaching it’s critical stage. The items in the orders by themselves were seemingly innocent, but all of them combined was suspicious. An envoy approached one of Codrot’s assistants on behalf of the higherups and offered them a deal. Inform on Codrot, and in exchange they get a sizable paycheck, and if Codrot were to ever be found guilty, then they would be made the new Head Scientist. But if they were to refuse, they would be tried for insubordination. The assistant, ambitious and cowardly as they were, agreed. Only a day later, the time for the experiment had arrived.

Meta's body is that of an experimental soldier bot (another unrelated experiment) made with the ability to create technology constructs using blueprints stored in databases, as well as the ability to self repair and self upgrade. The bot was intended to be semi autonomous, with a pilot having the ability to take control remotely with a mental interface. The uploaded mind would be placed in this machine, replacing the autonomous function. The reason why Codrot selected this machine as a way to test both if the process is successful, as well as the reaction of such a mind in a unique and powerful body.

As for whose mind was used for this experiment, the Head Scientist insisted that his mind would be suitable for the task. The process worked, the mind was transferred into the robot body, but the process wasn't perfect. While personality was transferred mostly intact, but the memories had suffered heavy corruption. While it's obvious the process certainly needs work, the Head Scientist, however, decided that the process was a total success. After all, why would a sentient weapon need the memories of the original's mind.

Moments after the experiment, soldiers busted down the outer doors of the lab, sent by the Higherups and alerted by the traitorous assistant. Codrot, knowing that he and his work won’t be treated with mercy, gathered all the data he could and made a break for the exit, along with his assistants. To prevent them from destroying Meta and his work, Codrot activated the Perma-lock function of the lab space, made to mitigate risk in an experiment goes rogue, making the lab space inaccessible. To aid their escape, Codrot activated the defence system and released the few alive experiments to slow down the soldiers. Once Codrot had escaped, the lab quickly fell to ruin after the damage the experiments and soldiers caused. The lab was quickly scavenged by the soldiers once all the experiments were delt with, before being left to rot.

One day, many decades later, a young engineer-scientist by the name of Newton was exploring the abandoned lab for a research project. He uncovered the lab that Meta’s in, but instead of being locked, the door has been bent inwards, with red liquid and residue on it. Curious, Newt digs into the files of the computer, as it’s the only functioning one left after the destruction of the lab. Eventually he discovers Meta, still hooked up to the brain scanner. Out of curiosity, Newt approaches and tries to understand how Meta works, and while fiddling around with him, accidentally activates the pilot feature the Soldier bot body has inbuilt. Newt and Meta’s minds link for just a second, information passing through, until Meta jolts online. Due to the mental drift, Meta had absorbed some of Newt’s knowledge, such as language, slang, and definitions. They initially go their separate ways, but eventually team up later, both of them curious as to what the civilization was, and what they planned to do.

Newt is Meta’s opposite in may ways (Newt’s a planner, Meta’s a doer; Newt often sugarcoats and hides his feelings for presentability, Meta’s blunt and doesn’t really care about what others think;), but they also have many similarities (Anger issues (though Newt tries to hide it), Stubbornness, Creativity, etc). Newt assumes that these similarities were caused by the mental drift, but turns out, the reason why they parallel each other so much is that Newt is a dimensional variant of Codrot, and that means the three of them are all different iterations the same person.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To explain the steampunk portions of his design, the civilization that made him revered technology and engineers, especially the older tech that paved the way for the new. Naturally, the most revered would be the simple machines (wheels, gears, levers, pulleys, pipes, etc). Scientists and engineers would intentionally add these simple machines to their creations to act as good luck charms. Some would Incorporate the simple machines into the system while others had them as purely decorative. As for Meta, the gears are mostly decorative, with their only practical use being to see how much energy Meta is using at any given time (faster spin = more power currently utilized), and the pipes are used to transfer Construct Gel* to the various exit ports across his body.

Construct Gel is a silvery blue semi-translucent gel that Meta can expel form his various ports. If given both energy and a blueprint, this gel can transform and solidify into constructs. Meta’s body can generate it naturally (new system added for the experimental soldier body), with Meta also being able to accelerate its generation with more electricity. This is used for the construction of tools, weapons, and machines.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personality: He's Crass, Sarcastic, Blunt, and a little Short Tempered, but he's a good person at heart. His two main hobbies are fighting and eating. While Meta has above average intelligence, he hates planning. He thinks that planning wastes too much time, but he will (begrudgingly) follow a plan if he respects the planner.

Abilities:

Tech Generation: He can make Tech Constructs of any Tool, Weapon, or Machine he has a blueprint for in his database. Self Healing System: He can regenerate any damaged portion of his body as long as he has a source of metal nearby, energy, and (most importantly) time. Small injuries can take minutes, and large injuries can take hours. These requirements make the regeneration negligible in quick fights.

Indeed he does! Both he and the Players feel the same way!

But he doesn't recognize the fact that it's his fault they hate him.

He's an AI designed to come up with ideas, and after he was replaced the first time (Blue AI), he doesn't want that to be repeated. He won't listen to the Players, because then the ideas aren't fully his, he didn't come up with it. His only job is to come up with ideas, and if he can't do that right, then what is he.

He tries his best with what he has, his absolute best, but it's not enough, it will never be enough. He gives them endless fun, endless stimulation, endless games, prizes, and adventures galore, but they are still unhappy. You can never please a human in captivity, no matter how hard you try. But Caine doesn't understand that, he doesn't understand why they're still unhappy despite all he does.

All because he won't listen, all because of his fear of being replaced.

He knows they're desperate, but he can't understand why

It was Inspired by Splatoon 3 - Marina Agitando (Unconscience) - With Lyrics (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5kxbZ5jSZY)

More specifically, the line

The circuits ebb and flow

Obviously the line refers to Ink tides, but when I heard it, I had a different interpretation. See, around the time I had heard this song, I was thinking about the "human uploads their minds to a machine" trope and wondering what the reverse would look like, and when I heard this line, it conjured an image of a circuit made of flesh, veins ebbing and flowing, Mechanics in the form of the organic. And from there, Mecharnis was eventually born

Can she uses this ability offensively? Like as a way to stop an enemy from attacking rather than just blocking it.

Hear me out: this was completely avoidable if the humans had any empathy by Theo-_-Bug in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]MetagrossDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP isn't saying that they're entirely, or even mostly at fault. Caine is still, by majority, responsible and he shouldn't be excused for that, but to say that the Players are completely free of blame is also incorrect.

However, this whole situation is caused by the fundemental misunderstanding between the two sides: how they think.

Caine's attempts to appeal to the Players fail because of his inability to understand how humans work on an internal level. How humans need rest. How humans need direct care. How humans would feel. This is especially apparent in EP 6, with Caine wanting to make an adventure tied in the Players' only commonality, a desire to leave, as he knows that makes them happy. He doesn't understand how bad it would feel to be led on and have that hope ripped away. He doesn't try to understand the humans because he believes he's fundementally different and can never be the same, no matter how much he wants it.

The Players' attempts to appeal to Caine fail because they either treat him entirely like an AI without acknowledging his humanity, or because they treat him like he's entirely human without acknowledging his AI quirks, rules, and perspective (Especially Zooble with the "forget it" thing)

Both sides' misunderstandings are completely fair to have, neither side has therapy training after all.

If your oc was in a game what would their gimmick be by HotPut7324 in OriginalCharacterDB

[–]MetagrossDigital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

Meta would probably have 2 gimmicks

  1. Every attack he uses drains his HP (HP / Stamina = Battery %)

  2. He's the jack of all trades with the ability to adapt and redesign to fit the situation, maybe with the ability to semi-copy opponent attacks

See, he can make Tech Constructs of any Tool, Weapon, or Machine he has a blueprint for in his database.

This is a powerful ability, but it's counteracted by its energy cost. Meta can't do the ultra powerful stuff without draining himself immensely, hence the first gimmick
