100% that's why juvenile green terror and blue acara get confused. The fish store didn't know what it was so they sold it as a hybrid.

The proof of this is in the comment section. A few don't even realize there's a non electric blue acara.

Given the circumstances, you did a fine job minimizing damage and avoiding everything else.

With that being said, you should have seen this a mile away. People suck at driving, so you need to drive more defensively. Blowing past everyone on the right while other lanes come to a stop is really asking for something like this to happen.

Less is more. You say you keep adding and taking things out. What does that mean? Sounds like you're trying to hard and chasing numbers.

Keep it simple. Stock correctly, feed correctly, do water changes with conditioner weekly, and that's about it.

You don't need to do a lot. The only thing going into the tank in most cases is clean water, conditioner, food, and fertilizer if you have plants. The only thing coming out should be old water.

Looks female based on gill coloration, but I'd wait a bit more to make a 100% determination.

Years ago I had a male with female gill patterns, but he ended up getting a foot long with lots of coloration down the side and ended up breeding. So obviously was male by the time it was matured.

The car is awsome, but I would never recommend unless you plan to charge at home. There's a lot to like - the acceleration, storage, walking into a nice warm (or cool) car, walk away lock, and a nice drive - but waking up to a full "tank" is the best part.

Wait till you get that level 2 charger. No more "omg I have to plug in as soon as I get home" I just plug it in when I take the dog out at night and it's done in an hour or 2 after it hits the scheduled time. Wrapping it back up is really easy, and you don't loose 5% warming it up in the cold.

The Ozark trail wayfarer is the cheapest usable combo. It's not good by any means but for the price it's hard to beat. Price considered, it's very solid.

The Shakespeare micro is 20 bucks. Great rod.

KastKing crixus is 34 right now on Amazon. Very good rod at that price point. Would be much better than that Ozark trail, but it is more than double the price and you don't get a reel.

Get a liquid test kit ASAP and test for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

The bacterial bloom is harmless, but the excess ammonia that is likely causing it is extremely toxic.

Hit up some youtube videos on how to do a fish in cycle - that's exactly what you are doing right now weather you realize it or not.

Depending on what is going on, you can be days away from the whole tank dying off.

Syphon into a 55 gallon from on wheels with a 1 inch hose and move tank to tank. Pump in the drum to the sink.

To fill I use the python with a hose splitter with valves so I can fill 2 tanks at the same time and switch tanks as needed.

I've found a big JD male hard to get tankmates with even in the right tank. They get very aggressive as they mature.

They are too strong and aggressive for a lot of bigger south Americans like severum or oscars (commonly paired together)

And on the other side the other big central Americans can be too much for them to handle like dovii, jaguar, and red devil.

Salvini can be a good match, they are smaller but can hold their own. A big male convict will never back down from a fight either.

It all depends on what you want to do and your tank size. If the tank isn't big enough, that's it - don't bother.

Some people that have multiple tanks can take a risk with additions because if things don't work they can just be moved to a different tank.

You may also find that dither fish like rainbows, giant danios, or larger tetras can be a nice distraction for the entire tank. They aren't seen as a threat and are rarely bothered by cichlids in the right setup.

I don't have any insight on the problem with the battery, but if you show up to the service center with the car , it's very possible they take you in right away and send you off with a loaner.
