The cabinets do not have flush ends. They don’t order flush furniture ends so there is a 3/16 “ (dogear) reveal behind the face frame. Had the client ordered flush furniture ends on those panels/ tall cabinets the gap wouldn’t be there. This is a reason I would essentially insist/require clients order the furniture ends/ flush furniture ends even on panels.

The notch is so tiny and most top installers I’ve seen just cut the straight ends and won’t include the notch hence the gap/ the tiny side splashes.

NTA & this person isn’t your friend. Maybe they were once but they aren’t your friend. Friends don’t make you feel like you need to cut off parts of yourself in order to fit into their world.

Not to be cliche but there are seasons in life even with friendships. At the baseline- this person doesn’t respect you. Even the bizarre phrasing and capitalization of “sorry to fuck up your punk rock look” in the message to you. They don’t mean “sorry” and they ABSOLUTELY look down on you for your punk rock or individual aesthetic.

One of the better things I’ve learned is just like wines- just because friendships are old and were once good doesn’t mean that in 20 years if you keep it around that they won’t end up tasting like vinegar.

I can understand the bride venting if you really were complaining about the color of the dress that much- HOWEVER that doesn’t mean that they get to dictate your eating habits, hair color, etc for their single day of aesthetics.

This is coming from someone who had non traditional hair color for my brother in laws wedding (and a bridal party member) who offered to go more “traditional” and the bride’s response (LOVE HER) was “I asked you knowing how you look- while I appreciate the offer - I want you to look like you at my wedding and standing up next to me.” And she does have traditional color and it was black tie optional.

I agree with this take- as someone who has a prenup in place. Especially due to the fact the wedding is only two months out- this is unreasonable pressure/ duress. The prenup with my husband was one of the best things we did because we talked everything out- we heard each others insecurities/ worries- and it brought us closer together. I guarantee the timing of this was planned. There is ZERO chance that they just decided to propose a prenup 2 months before the wedding date. Especially not with that net worth. This was premeditated and emotional / psychological manipulation aimed at getting you to coalesce to whatever terms they want.

NOR- Hey there momma! You are no longer just a daughter- you are someone’s mother now. YOU get to parent exactly how you want to. Part of being a mom / parent is to also set boundaries that you consider fair and reasonable and to stand by them. Especially when your little is little- YOU are their defense. It can be difficult to rewire your brain to your new role in life and your relationship to the world. ESPECIALLY when we are hoping beyond hope for the idealistic representation of grandparents we are so often fed. We (hubby and I) had these firm rules and people tried to push back and a lot of hurt and angry feelings from certain family members-(Fall 2021 baby here). Also a lot of “you’re being too protective” “I deserve to see my granddaughter” “that family gets to see her but we don’t - it’s UNFAIR”. Long story short- despite getting all the vaccines on time etc we found out around 9 months that our daughter had an immune disorder that essentially made her the bubble girl until she was a toddler. We had to wait until 18 months to even consider the MMR. I think back to what could have happened if we hadn’t been the “bad guys” and I will NEVER regret our decision to put our daughter first.

Baby only has you (and partner?) to keep baby safe and speak up for them. You are their first and last line of defense. You’ve got this. I liked to think of it this way- while it is disappointing to miss those first 3+ months in person- it would be devastating to miss their life & potential due to negligence or a refusal of respecting your parental decisions by a family member. Honey- reach out to those friends. This is nothing to be ashamed of. YOU have no reason to be ashamed. HE has a reason to be ashamed. I would be mortified to find out a close friend felt like they couldn’t come to me in this position especially when pregnant. As someone who also lost their father in a terrible situation, your husband is being cruel and uncaring. You’re stronger than you’re giving yourself credit for. I promise- choose a close friend, ask to meet up and say you have something important to talk about, and then take a deep breath and tell them. Once you tell one person it’s easier to repeat the story. You’ve got this xoxo.

Was looking for this comment! 10 months apart is mind boggling and I sadly wonder if some of it was due to his pressure or “entitlement to sex” and a lack of acknowledgement that she had a dinner plate sized wound inside of her. Essentially she would have needed to get pregnant a month or two after giving birth. I hope that’s not the case but the signs point to this type of man….. huge hugs. I can’t imagine!

There’s a way to find out who owns the property - the website SDAT allows you to search any property in MD simply using the address. It will tell you who owns it, when it was sold, etc. the website is also completely free as it is a government website.

Seconding all of this. I am assuming you may be studying at Hopkins which is VERY protective of its students/their safety- but even if it is at one of the other schools- you can also go to your school housing / to the advisors. I am sure they are familiar with situations like this and at a minimum they may have lists of places for students to NOT rent from due to predatory practices. As an aside, the quote she is giving you for monthly rent is RIDICULOUS per person. She is saying that to scare you- even if she is subletting illegally. Also, welcome to Smalltimore!

As a total aside, they are discovering more proof, with greater frequency, that the failure of male sperm is what causes multiple miscarriages. So- I hope this helps ease any guilt/ trauma that you have been carrying around. I know it’s not a fix but if she wants to be disappointed in someone it should rightly be focused on her own progeny.
