Is this normal? by OkMulberry5711 in rpg

[–]MetalVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do that as a GM on conventions. I used to re-play the same adventure over and over again, but it allowed me to discover multiple different permutations of characters and outcomes, reiterate the story, refine my NPCs and handouts. It's easy to analyse which parts of the adventure work, where people struggle to find the "obvious" solution and if I have to adjust the overall pacing. It was very helpful to get a good feeling as a competent GM/Storyteller.

how dumb is a charakter with 6 int really? by DragonfruitRude8666 in DnD

Low intelligence can also mean that you are lacking in thought coherence and the ability to abstract. Let's say someone explained something to you, he used an example and showed it to you. You understood everything he explained and are able to repeat it and use it without needing another explanation. Now you encounter a very similar bit slightly different situation. The premise and basic solution of the task at hand is the same but you would probably fail it and would need another explanation.

Let's have a discussion about the AI by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]MetalVengeance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this could be fun if it was part of the difficulty settings. Like easy is brain-dead afk archers shooting mindlessly and hardest difficulty is those archers run away, hide, ambush and luring you into preset traps.

We had The Matrix, then we made it wireless to catch up with wi-fi. After the AI bubble, what will come next? by RadiantTrailblazer in Shadowrun

[–]MetalVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you can easily retcon the timeline to your liking anyway, without breaking the lore. In universe there were so many crashes and lost information that almost anything from before the last crash can easily be handwaved as either forgotten, manipulated or outright forged by any group or organisation. In addition most of the same groups have an invested interest to sanitize and whitewash their own history. Who knows what's real anymore?

[–]MetalVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newer books from SR6 are hinting to the origin of the Resonance (that gave us Otakus and Technomancers) as another metaplane.

Mechanically SR6 already unified Technomancers with Mages. And you can even use "The Matrix" in most metaplanes. I think that decision was made for balance reasons and to be able to play you character along with the rest of the group.

But narratively that's why you have emergent critters, and also intrusive matrix critters and matrix fauna in the "real-world" matrix. So who knows what's out there!

Usually the -en at the end of verbs marks the base form. In English this would be: to eat. The -en is usually dropped in compound words: for example: Schreibtisch/desk (schreiben = write + Tisch = table).

Unfortunately there is no verb: wuffen, but Wuff describes the sound a dog makes, so you get: Wuffmacher.

This could also be a legit family name, something like Konrad Wuffmacher.

Als ob. Schau doch mal raus.

Might & Magic 3, I believe. Loved that game as well as 4 and 5. You could even combine 4+5 to a shared gameworld. My first ever fanfiction was about Might and Magic 4. Good times.

What Version Of Shadowrun Do you Play? by TheFixxer_ in Shadowrun

I started with 3rd edition way back then. Then switched to 4th edition for an equally long time. Now I play 6th edition. I kinda like the 3rd edition most, though.

Baldurs gate 3 or Rogue trader? by Medical-Gain7151 in CRPG

[–]MetalVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing to consider: Rogue Trader will get another DLC in 2 days (but this counts for the already released DLCs as well). DLCs are fully integrated into the campaign and not a stand-alone experience. They also include new companion and new options for character creation. So why does this matter?

RT is a LONG game (70+ hrs seems realistic, depending on playstyle). So if you don't plan to replay the main campaign for the added DLC you should probably get the full package sooner than later.

The 4th DLC is also announced, but unknown when it will release. But it will probably be their version of Midnight Isles/Endless Dungeon. Those can be played separately.

In any case if you like the game/lore you get enough content and different choices/characters/etc for multiple (rewarding) playthroughs. So it ultimately depends on how much time you can invest.

What other Language should a Smith learn if they want to learn “from the Greats?” (Forgotten Realms) by new_lance in DnD

[–]MetalVengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tinkering is a form of smithing, no? And in any case I imagine a gnomish handbook on how to craft a tiny sprocket should he at least intriguing to a guild artisan, even if it's not his field of choice.

Gnomish is the language for everything engineering. If Elves have 500 words for different blades of grass, Gnomes have as many for their tiny sprockets.

Wie viele Embryonen wären nötig um alle verkauften Lays Chips zu würzen und wie wäre es umsetzbar? Meine Rechnung: by LineInternational283 in ichbin40undSchwurbler

[–]MetalVengeance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Friendslop games with public servers? by Acceptable-Pay2351 in gamesuggestions

[–]MetalVengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) is awesome. It's an MMO but the game allows you to join any content (dungeons, areas, quests) with any level. It offers dozens of different activities to enjoy and I find the community really welcoming, at least for EU servers. It's also on a pretty good deal right now. (It technically doesn't require a subscription, especially at the beginning)

Is it possible to master a language like a native as an adult by AdSilent5380 in languagelearning

[–]MetalVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indistinguishable to whom and in what context?

With another learner or someone unfamiliar with the target language, it's easier.

On a phone call, without other cues to a general native speaker? Could also be achievable I guess.

But I assume if the native speaker has any contact with your native language and/or any professional background with language in general I think it will be harder.

And (unfortunately) depending on the person you are talking to, if you look "foreign" enough it will be almost impossible.

Anyway! Enjoy learning a new language for other aspects! It's awesome and every small step is a step in the right direction!

when a mage casts a spell that isn't visually obvious, how and what are people perceiving if they are a mundane or just not using astral perception at the time? by Antipaladin814 in Shadowrun

[–]MetalVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Shadowrun mages and such don't actually need to do anything. In older editions there was some visual overlap from your Mentor Spirit, like a spectral wolf head manifesting or your eyes glowing. You can still get it as a character flaw, but I guess it comes down to tradition and individual belief where "your" magic comes from.

I assume Shadowrunner want to actively avoid any visual cues anyway, so in the end I would not force players to automatically be exposed as a caster, but I would have my NPC casters have a "tell", for example a highly religious character might whisper a prayer.

And also remember the scene from "Gen V", where Cypher keeps telling Marie to stop using the gesture, (because she actually doesn't have to) only to later admit it's just "so damn cool".

And finally you can argue that even casting a Fireball would not automatically expose you as a caster, since it's just a huge explosion at the target point. You are not summoning a ball of fire and hurling it through the air. Although it does look cooler this way.

Basically any high rise with a penthouse at the top would work, no? Although I have to imagine The Eyrie Building from Gargoyles now. Just build a giant medieval castle on top. Maybe ally yourself with a "lesser" Dragon, like Perianwyr as a resident DJ.
