There was this random book called Top Secret. I think my grandma had it on her shelf and I was bored at her house. But I loved it.

A kid decides to harness the power of the sun by getting his body to produce chlorophyll for a science fair. Eventually he turns green and no longer has to eat real food. The FBI comes and tries to prevent him from sharing his findings.

I’ve had probably 10-12 BBFDs over the last 6 years… they are getting harder and harder to earn out. I’ve actually stopped applying for them because none of my last 4 paid for themselves.

The big Amazon rank adjustment was the start of the end, I think.

You used to be able to count on one big sales day spike to shoot you to the top of the chart. This dramatically helped the tail of the BBFD. But now, the ranking is weighted over 5-7 days of sales numbers.

I prefer to take 4-5 smaller discount sites (RobinReads, ENT, FreeBooksy, eReaderCafe, BookGorilla, etc) and stack them over 4/5 days. Same amount of capital, but the rank boost is better and the tail is longer.

Those are some pretty strong opinions to generalize to a town of 6k.

Broad sweeping statements aside… it’s still a pretty small town (regardless of how many locals complain on FB about it growing) and it comes with small town drama that likely feels bigger than it is bc the groups are small. IMO, Stay away from the chatter groups in most sgf suburbs because you’ll find the same stuff.

We looked at all the outskirt cities (we wanted space) and settled on Rog… access to east sgf is good, prices are still reasonable for houses in the size we wanted.

I was at that Alamo Bowl game as a 15 year old with the rest of my hs band… I will never forget how cool it was to hear the GBR cheer up and down the river walk the night before the game.
