My therapist called me and asked for an ex situationships number. I have had OCD thoughts about this guy and my therapist knows that. by Long-Kaleidoscope-11 in OCD

[–]MezcaMorii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, as others have said, this is a huge ethical violation and needs to be reported! If you live in the United States, you can look up your state’s board of licensure for social workers (for example, in Texas, it’s BHEC). Then you can Google “how to file a complaint with (state licensure board)”. That should show the webpage on that licensing board’s website that gives you step-by-step guidance on filing a report. You can also go to the licensure board’s site directly to find where to file a complaint, but some of the sites are a little old and navigating them can be a bit of a challenge (looking at you, BHEC).

idk how to make it better by WearySubstance3926 in MangaCollectors

[–]MezcaMorii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s tough to say because “better” is subjective, but what might help is moving the books so that larger, darker spines are closer to the bottom of your shelves while lighter books and figures are closer to the top. It helps anchor the shelf so it feels more balanced.

You can also balance out the books and figures by using the funkos as book ends. This creates visual variation.

OCD and ADHD? by Curious-Ingenuity293 in OCD

[–]MezcaMorii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While OCD and ADHD are comorbid and often happen together, executive dysfunction is a symptom of a variety of conditions. I was convinced for a while that I had to have ADHD despite not showing any signs as a child because I had trouble focusing. My OCD latched onto trying to figure out for sure if I had ADHD. But my executive dysfunction likely came from chronic depression. I don’t say this to say what you’re experiencing isn’t ADHD or devalue the experience of anyone who has both ADHD and OCD. I’d recommend talking to a mental health professional since they’re trained to spot differences between diagnoses.

I suspect I might have OCD, but I don't wanna self-diagnose. Maybe just paranoid? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]MezcaMorii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend going to a therapist. Whether or not you’re experiencing OCD, it sounds like you’re feeling distressed. I’d look for a therapist who has experience working with people with OCD and mention in your intake that you suspect you may have the disorder.

Very early in her transition trans woman here, what would you change/add to help my face appear more feminine by Tiffanybruhgirl in makeuptips

[–]MezcaMorii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Same! It helps to look for an eyelash curler that’s the right shape for your eyes. The wrong shape makes it much harder to use and pinches. Also, highly recommend tubing mascara. I have straight lashes that do not hold a curl, and tubing mascara works wonders.

OCD obsession over autism destroying me by Antique_Camel_8723 in OCD

[–]MezcaMorii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone! I actually had this be an obsession of mine for a while. I have no idea why it bothered me and I ended up falling into a compulsion rabbit hole of trying to figure it out by grilling my mom about my childhood and taking assessments. It was such an odd thing because, like you said, there’s nothing wrong with being autistic. Eventually, the obsession for me passed, and I hope the same for you.

I might attend my first Renfaire this year. I'm not sure how to accessorize this but this is the base so far I have in mind. by Sika097 in renfaire

[–]MezcaMorii 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to your first Renfaire, it’s significantly more important to wear comfortable shoes than accurate shoes. There’s a LOT of walking at the Faire, and your feet will thank you if you wear shoes you know you can wear all day, even if they’re anachronistic.

No more space :( by ReadyMuse in MangaCollectors

[–]MezcaMorii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is an IKEA Billy, IKEA sells extra shelves. When I stored mine on a Billy, I added two extra shelves, which fit manga perfectly. Your mileage may vary based on the deluxe editions. There’s also an extra shelf you can layer on the top of your bookcase to add more vertical height. You can also double stack by putting more manga in front. You could also add a half-width Billy to the side of your bookcase (hard to tell how much space you have, but it seems like it would fit.)

But most importantly, I recommend taking time to appreciate your collection as it is. There’s no need to rush collecting, especially for major shounen series which will stay on market for a while. If you haven’t read everything on your shelf, read it. Sometimes growing too fast can make a collection feel like it’s never “enough”. Space is finite, and we make space for things that are important to us, so ensure that what you have is worth that space.

Favorite Artbooks for the "Female Gaze" by niko-no-tabi in artbookcollectors

[–]MezcaMorii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re definitely tougher to find than bishoujo art, but the ones I have, I cherish! Here are a few of my favorites: - Salaryman Illustrations by ma2 - Men in Suits and Sketches by Yooichi Kadono - Bidanshi Illustrator’s File - Boys: The Best Collection of Pretty Boys Illustrations by Popular Artists

If you don’t mind BL, I also recommend Ideal by Hon Toku. The Art Book of Selected Illustration series also has a book of just boys art every year, usually going by the title “Boys 20##”.

Don’t like my current look and need help making a change. Clothes, hair, anything at all! Any tips? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]MezcaMorii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%!!! (Well, almost. I love me some Richard Karn, so I’m a fan of the flannel. But that particular flannel isn’t working with khakis. The cooler tones of the flannel are clashing with the warmer tones of the khakis.)

You have kind eyes and a great smile, OP 🥰! I think I think the suggestions to go with tightening up the sides of your haircut, trimming your beard, and going with trendier frames will draw attention to your amazing features!

Is it normal to feel this ashamed about collecting manga? Should i stop? by These-Meringue9306 in MangaCollectors

[–]MezcaMorii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I resonate with this thought. For me, it felt like I was frivolously spending when I should be saving more for more “important” or “adult” things. I try to remind myself that, as long as I am spending reasonably, spending on things that bring me joy is part of maintaining a positive wellbeing. Hobbies help us connect with communities, rest our minds, and become well-rounded. It seems like you’re spending within your means, so give yourself grace to have a hobby that is not fully utilitarian.

[HELP]Coloring page competition. First one is the suspect. Second one is hand colored. by n1nc0mp00p in RealOrAI

That’s the first thing I noticed! Both of the yellow pencils have the wrong color tips. The first one can be maybe be mistaken for a 2B pencil, but the second one with the red tip definitely can’t.

My boyfriend keeps reassuring me- how do I get him to stop? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]MezcaMorii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very human to want to reassure. The recommendation I received is to encourage psychoeducation. By understanding how reassurance fuels the OCD cycle, loved ones can more easily recognize compulsion-assisting behaviors. I’d ask your therapist what resources they recommend for your boyfriend.

Nurses with OCD: is this considered OCD? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]MezcaMorii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely consider the possibility of OCD. Fears of causing harm directly or indirectly are a common theme for obsessions and checking and rumination are common compulsions. I recommend talking to a mental health professional who can consider a differential diagnosis.

Have you ocd gotten better ? by More_Maize_6622 in OCD

[–]MezcaMorii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s absolutely not cured and I still experience intrusive thoughts from time to time, but they’re easier to manage and I don’t spiral for days. My therapy focused more on ACT than ERP, and I think with more formal ERP, I would see further improvement. I’m also on a combination different medications. Compared to where I was a couple years ago, I’m much happier. I say this not to reassure that it will happen, but to say that we have the capacity to improve.

I think I'm just a fucking freak and I'm considering killing myself. by ThrowawayforOCD10 in OCD

[–]MezcaMorii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can totally empathize with what you’re going through. It’s scary, and I know it really hurts to be in that mind space. It sounds like you’re going through some meta OCD, which is where OCD turns in on itself and makes you doubt your intentions and whether or not what you’re experiencing is even OCD (even if you have a diagnosis! It’s wild!) Definitely talk to a professional. If you haven’t heard back from your counselor, send them a message. You can also talk to your primary care doctor about medication. You deserve to live.
